During the second half of the XVIII century, This mansion was built within St. Jorge's Castle walls on the site of the former Alcacova Palacete Kitchens. This house is still known as the Palacete das Cozinhas (Kitchens Mansion).
Within the old walls, built by the Moors, the Solar do Castelo is surrounded by gardens and terraces with pools and the sounds of the singing of caged birds.
