BY BUS: There are, at least, 10 Bus Stations in Oporto.

You can find all the Regional, National and International destinations possible, within the downtown’s boundaries.
The public transports network has available, approximately, 80 lines, which operate in all the metropolitan area, as well as the city’s outskirts (councils of Maia, Matosinhos, Valongo, Gondomar, V.

Adding to this, there’s a very modern and recent “Metro” (Surface mini-train) which connects, mostly, the city’s downtown to its boundaries.

BY PLANE: Oporto’s International Airport (Francisco Sá de Carneiro) is the second biggest airport in the country and it is located at 13 km from Oporto’s downtown.
It does all the major connections to the most important national / international destinations and within the compound, you can find the Post Offices, Rent-a-cars, 24 hours exchange offices, a Tourism Office, bank Offices and a several shopping stores.
To get to the city’s downtown you can either get a taxi, a Bus (number 56), which operates every 20 minutes, or the “Aerobus” (direct line connecting the airport with the city centre and vice-versa)
There’s an Aerobus departing / arriving from / at the airport every 30 minutes, from 07h00 to 19h00 and you can purchase the ticket on board.

This ticket is valid in all public transports, on the same day of purchase.

BY CAR: There are 5 main entrances / exits from / to Oporto, being 3 of them highways:
• A1 – Direction South (Aveiro, Coimbra, Lisbon, Algarve, etc.).
• N1 – Direction South Coastal (Espinho, Aveiro, Figueira da Foz, Nazaré, Lisbon, etc.)
• A3 – Direction North (Braga, Guimarães, Ponte de Lima, Valença, Spain, etc.)
• A4 – Direction North Interior (Amarante, Vila Real, Mirandela, Bragança, Spain, etc.)
• IC1 - Direction North Coastal (Vila do Conde, Povoa do Varzim, Esposende, Viana do Castelo, Spain, etc.)
If you arrive by one of the North entrances, you should follow the indications of “Porto – centro”.
If you arrive by one of the South entrances, you will have 3 options – the 3 bridges crossing the “Douro” river: the “Arrábida” bridge, The “Freixo” bridge and the “Infante” bridge, which is the most direct from the three, to the city centre.

BOAT: The “Leixões” harbour is placed at 5 km from the “Douro” river.
You can reach the downtown via bus, car (rented or own), taxi, tram or metro (surface mini-train).
