I have stayed at the Carlton many many times in the past but this is the first time since the new wing has been finished,the rooms are always very clean and up to a very high standard,My room this time was on the side of the hotel facing Victoria Street and the bad news is this is a very noisy side of the hotel with high values of traffic noise. They have now moved the central bar to the side and sadly I feel this has lost all its soul, they have a duo on every night but the female vocalist keeps changing some times for the better. If you want a chilled drink without going to chimes ( very dated now ) then try a roof bar called "Loof" which is situated in the next block down from the hotel bar on North Beach Road, very trending with spectacular views of the "Sands Hotel" complete with laser show every night.
