A basic and somewhat dated hotel but in an excellent location for China town away from the mainstay tourist areas. Service is fine and friendly but no more than that. Not sure if I would stay here again but don't be put off by that. However, it's not for children (the pool is rubbish), the elderly or that romantic holiday - it's more somewhere modest to sleep whilst you explore Sing's day and night life

Pretty good overall. Room had excellent views of the river, boat Quay and the city skyline. Great location for walking to Boat Quay / Clark Quay and China Town. Hotel overall is a little tired and ageing but the room was well maintained. Would stay again if the hotel was on sale again.

Our stay was one to remember it was handy to Clarke Quay and Chinatown the staff were friendly. The only thing that caused a small problem was having to move rooms when we had a problem with the hot water, other then that our stay was quite good.

A good location above China Town MRT...
A good location above China Town MRT with great street food just outside. One MRT stop of a short walk to Clarke Quay. I just couldn't understand the idea behind the glass screened bathroom which you collide with as you enter the room. The glass (see through) bathroom and toilet door has to be open in order for you to enter the room door with your bags. You have to be careful not to bump into the glass box bathroom in the room, and also watch the short sharp step into the shower bit, which I slipped on and hurt my foot during the night. I am really surprised health and safety permitted this design. A pity, because otherwise it was all fine.

The rooms were clean and of a satisfactory size. The service at the check in counter was a bit slow, but the reception said that they will upgrade me to a delux room. However I told him that I had made reservations and paid for a delux room. He seemed puzzled. The room included breakfast. There was no service when I took my breakfast at 6.40am except for a girl at the desk checking that I was entittled for breakfast. There was a counter for freshly made omalete and fried eggs, but there was no one manning the counter.

got the best deal promo for a superior room at 117 USD! we checked in at 9am, that's almost five hours ahead of the scheduled check in time, the receptionist didn't hesitated to accomodate us. to our surprise, the lady upgraded our room to a deluxe room! the deluxe room is very spacious. comfort room is very clean, toiletries are complete. sheets are nice to touch, everything's wonderful! the air conditioning needs some improvement though. the humidity in Singapore is quite a challenge, we know so. came night time, the air con became stable. location is superb, we just walked to eat to the hawkers strip! bus stop and mrt is very near. attendants are friendly. they'll give you a smile and will say "good morning!" great service. we had a great time at the furama. we'll definitely come back here. breakfast buffet is average. PS ive actually left my shirt at this hotel, and i went back to tell the receptionist about my booboo. asked them if they can look for it for me, luckily they found it together with the used towels and sheets. that's a plus.

The Furama City Centre was fine as...
The Furama City Centre was fine as far as cleanliness and friendliness. However, the rooms are very small. We paid for a room which was supposed to be bigger than the standard, but it was still extremely small. Breakfast was ok, but had very little to offer in terms of Western or continental type breakfast foods. All in all a great hotel, but would most likely not stay here again.

Our four night stay was eventually pleasant....
Our four night stay was eventually pleasant. The breakfast was excellent and the room was comfortable, and the views in our final room were brilliant. We paid the extra for a superior room when we first booked. Before confirmation the hotel came back and said they wanted extra money to the published price because it was a busy period. We agreed, but this action raised our expectations. We arrived in Singapore very tired at 3am. We were told we had a choice between two rooms: one with twin beds (we'd specified a king or queen bed) or one with no view and noisy because it was next to the lift shaft (the receptionists words, not mine). We chose the twin bedded room, also with no view, just to get a bed for the first night. We asked to be moved the next morning and were told it would be no problem. We then found ourselves in the room next to the lift shaft! A further complaint and a discussion about just what we had paid (very expensively) for resulted in a move to an accceptable room. The staff were reasonably helpful, but if we had not been tenacious we would not have been allocated an acceptable room. Noise from building work on the 4th floor (7 days per week, 12 hrs per day) and the headache-inducing smell of solvent cement from carpet laying operations were an annoyance, and made us feel that we did not receive good value for money.Despite this we would probably consider staying here again because of the location, the excellent breakfasts and the overall comfort. Two lessons learned: 1. Singapore seems to have increased in price tremendously because of the lack of sufficient hotel accommodation. 2. Need to be firm when discussing what is acceptable in terms of room standards.
