We had a junior suite overlooking the smaller pool and we have no complaints whtsoever regarding room size, cleanliness etc., and the decor was beautiful. Having two bathrooms was an unexpected plus and was very welcome! The staff were, without exception, friendly and helpful and we would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Should we return to Singapore at any time (hopefully we will!)we would not even consider staying anywhere else. Incidently friends who were staying in another 'top' hotel visited us during our stay and were extremely impressed with both the hotel and our suite.

Hotel staff and facilities were impeccable. Historic. Huge Rooms. Wonderful! One quality I did not enjoy: The lobby odor was heavily scented with mothballs. I did not enjoy lounging and remaining in the lobby or coffee shop.

A 24 hours stay in Singapore. A late arrival and a late departure. A good price was found at the Asia Rooms home page. Exellent service in the reception and from the doormen. We wanted to stay in the room until late day 2. It was not possible unless we payed another night. Instead a room was found for us, where we could take a shower before departure. As a second solution, it was good! The breakfast table presents all your wishes! Only argue: There was a bad smell in the room, when we arrived. Like a moisty cellar! (that's why we only give the cleanliness 3 smileys). And too much aircondition, why it took a while before we had the right tempeture in the room. Janni Lerche

The hotel looks nice, rooms are large...
The hotel looks nice, rooms are large and clean and service appears good. On being there for a few days however,the room equipment is dated, the hotel charges for internet access in the business centre! the service at breakfast is very lack lustre and staff do not appear to enjoy serving others. Overall the hotel smells very strongly of mildew although it was only evident on the outside of the bathroom windows. Location was fairly good and the walk to Orchard Road was a good way to stretch the legs. The pools arent inviting at all even in the heat. Overall, I wouldnt recomend it as there are much better hotels around.

Hotel location excellent. Perfect for 1-2 night stay in Singapore. Rooms good size and well equipped. Lots of areas for luggage etc. Only negative feedback we have is regarding the restaurant staff (outdoor) during breakfast. They were non-attentive, disinterested and truly put out by having to serve coffee or provide milk (which they did from the previous guests-yuk!-at least it was warm....). Although our breakfast experience was not pleasant, the rest of our stay was. We will definitely stay again and probably have breakfast across the road at one of the many cafes.

This hotel was absolutely wonderful. Sure, it's not for the budget traveller, but it's also much better value for money than other hotels of same rating. If you can get a bit of a bargain on this hotel over asiarooms, take it. The location is great (just round corner from Orchard Rd, a few minutes walk from Newton, close to MRT station), the staff are friendly and helpful, and the room is fantastic - spacious, luxurious, nice big balcony. We decided to spend our final two nicghts of a long holiday here. We had saved on accomodation for the rest of the trip so we thought a bit of luxury at the end would be good. And this place was perfect. I cannot rate it highly enough.

This is a decent hotel but whether it really offers value for money is unclear. The rooms are small enough but the location is very central.
