As for location, I think the hotel...
As for location, I think the hotel is situated nicely for business travelers looking to keep costs down. I discovered later that it is also situated near a "red light" hotel--a plus or minus depending upon your desires. While the suite I stayed in was sizable, the TV remote did not work and my windows looked out on to cement. There were stains in the bath tub and the toilet did not flush properly. Internet charges were unreasonably high especially since you could not log out and come back to the pre-paid session. Either you sat there and literally used all the time you purchased or lost it. So, the 24 hour package was properly priced but you had to use the 24 hours or lose it--unrealistic for the business traveler who's running between meetings and preparing for the next. Breakfast was equally a disappointment. The selection was minimal though the food was tolerable. I will not go back.

We thought the location was great. Room...
We thought the location was great. Room not bad, could have done with a little updating. The great thing about this hotel is the swimming pool on the 3rd floor. None seemed to use it but us and so to escape the heat of Singapore you just jump in.

Room size extremely large as we were...
Room size extremely large as we were upgraded. Clean, neat, great air-con. Only downside was a scam when leaving where we were ushered to a waiting 'taxi' which turned out to be a 'limousine' service charging S$35 instead of the normal S$12-15 it costs to go to the airport.

The air conditioning in the bedroom was...
The air conditioning in the bedroom was far too noisy. The shower came over the top of the bath and onto the floor. The shower head could not be adjusted to prevent this happening. The breakfast room tables were too large - approx 10 to a table. The hotel was in a good location, the service was very good and the staff were very helpful.

the best thing i like with the...
the best thing i like with the grand central hotel is the location. Restaurants are just a stone throw away from the hotel which is so delecious and yummy. Shopping malls are just few minutes walk like the Lucky plaza, Takasimaya, Peragon and etc., Transportation is not a problem coz when you go out of the hotel you can immediately find a taxi waiting,and bus and MRT station is just 10 minutes walk. The staff can really speak good english but they are not friendly. The room is spacious but the shower needs repair. Breakfast is not so good.

A reasonable hotel at a budget price for the location. I could only recommend it for short stays for those on a tight budget.

The hotel was good, only it doesn't...
The hotel was good, only it doesn't have a mini bar. For a quick drinks or a beer, I need to find it outside. And, it doesn't have an alarm clock, which unfornately I wasn't able to use my mobile phone because it was low batt. Aside from that, everything was fine.

Poor value for money. Although it is...
Poor value for money. Although it is in good location. Very old needs a refurb. Busy highway nearby where you do get some traffic noise. Service is poor, had to take my own bags up and down from the room. All in all a depressing old hotel with not much going for it except it is close to central Singapore.

I was very disppointed in the hotel....
I was very disppointed in the hotel. When I booked over the internet the hotel looked much nicer than it was. I thought the hotel was old, needed refurbishing desperately and I really felt that I had been 'ripped off'. I could not sleep because the air conditioning was so noisy and the washing machines were right outside our door. They were in use all night. Just AWFUL. Overall I think I paid far too much money for such a horrible place to stay. I would NEVER stay at the Grand Central again.

This hotel is in a fantastic location,...
This hotel is in a fantastic location, just off Orchard Road. It is very convenient for getting taxis, which can be a nightmare on Orchard Road. We never had to wait more than a few minutes. It is a little old inside...and the aircon was set to ice-block in our room...but overall we were reasonable happy with this hotel. There were renovations going on in the lobby, which we were not told about, but aside from a strong paint smell (not in the room, only the lobby) it didn't really affect us. The service was a bit cold, much like the aircon, but the tour booking agent was great. Overall a good price for such a great location, but don't expect the rooms to be anything like the neighboring Le Meridian!
