The hotel was good, only it doesn't...
The hotel was good, only it doesn't have a mini bar. For a quick drinks or a beer, I need to find it outside. And, it doesn't have an alarm clock, which unfornately I wasn't able to use my mobile phone because it was low batt. Aside from that, everything was fine.

Poor value for money. Although it is...
Poor value for money. Although it is in good location. Very old needs a refurb. Busy highway nearby where you do get some traffic noise. Service is poor, had to take my own bags up and down from the room. All in all a depressing old hotel with not much going for it except it is close to central Singapore.

I was very disppointed in the hotel....
I was very disppointed in the hotel. When I booked over the internet the hotel looked much nicer than it was. I thought the hotel was old, needed refurbishing desperately and I really felt that I had been 'ripped off'. I could not sleep because the air conditioning was so noisy and the washing machines were right outside our door. They were in use all night. Just AWFUL. Overall I think I paid far too much money for such a horrible place to stay. I would NEVER stay at the Grand Central again.

Whilst the location was good the room...
Whilst the location was good the room was terrible. The walls were mouldy, the walls were thin and you could hear everything the people in the next room were doing. The beds were old and some had a lean to one side so you rolled out everytime you turned over. The bathroom leaked water from the shower basin all over the floor. The bathroom ceiling was black with mould. The breakfast was terrible. Very poor selection, very average quality. Overall service in the hotel was very average. Having travelled and stayed in multiple hotels in Singapore where we received excellent service we were very dissappointed with what we encountered. Definitely would not stay again and would not recommend.

This hotel is in a fantastic location,...
This hotel is in a fantastic location, just off Orchard Road. It is very convenient for getting taxis, which can be a nightmare on Orchard Road. We never had to wait more than a few minutes. It is a little old inside...and the aircon was set to ice-block in our room...but overall we were reasonable happy with this hotel. There were renovations going on in the lobby, which we were not told about, but aside from a strong paint smell (not in the room, only the lobby) it didn't really affect us. The service was a bit cold, much like the aircon, but the tour booking agent was great. Overall a good price for such a great location, but don't expect the rooms to be anything like the neighboring Le Meridian!

Check-in was smooth and the manager was...
Check-in was smooth and the manager was friendly. But we did exprerienced a very unpleasant incident when one of the reception staff did not atttend to us nicely when we asked him about the whereabout of the airconditioning control switch in the room as the room is too cold and we couldn't find the switch after checking thoroughly but he strongly insisted that the switch is located near the card insert place. The way he responded was far too rude and later we just left the reception counter feeling dissapointed. When we returned to the room later in the afternoon we called to the front desk about the same matter and we guessed as much that all the rooms are fitted with centralised airconditioning system and a lady receptionist was kind enough to send a maintenance man to our room to check the condition. But what we could not accept is that how in this world a front desk sfaff is so ignorant about the configuration and amenities of the rooms and as frequent travellers we seriously think that guests do not deserve to be treated foolishly. In our opinion, for an extra SGD100-150 it is better to stay in Holiday Inn Parkview just around the corner from Grand Central, where we stayed during our previous visit to Singapore last year, also by patronising Asiarooms.com reservations. Thank you.

Our room, 707, was beside the air...
Our room, 707, was beside the air conditioner room and so it was noisy. It was very humid in the room as well. I stayed in this hotel before and was much more impressed the first time.

The room was a good size and...
The room was a good size and had been newly carpeted. The bathroom, however was not up to standard. There were holes in the wall under the bath that rats could easily get thru. - In fact the whole bathroom was tired and old. The breakfast is just very average and the room where the breakfast is served needs a makeover too. The bed was clean and comfortable. The reception staff most helpful.

Location was very good. But hotel and the facilities were quite old . Room does not look like picture at all, but it was clean, so it was no problem for the budget travel.

The air-conditioner is so terrible & no...
The air-conditioner is so terrible & no temperature adjustment. The breakfast provided are very bad & limited choices. But location is good, just nearby the shopping complex.
