I have stayed in many hotels on various visits to Singapore and this was my first time at the Grand Plaza Park Hotel. First impression wasn't all that good with a long wait at the check in desk..only 1 staff member on duty at the main desk and answering phones at same time. This was at 10.00pm on a saturday night! Eventually called over to the "club desk" where a very nice gentleman checked us in (albeit while helping out his lone colleague and answering phones etc.) Nevertheless, he was very pleasant and welcoming. Room not the largest I have stayed in, but more than adequate for twin share. Had 2 single beds which we had requested. Room decor nice and modern. Air conditioning great!. Bathroom on the small side, but again adequate. Large and deep bathtub which you don't see often, with shower overhead. In room amenities very good, with electric jug, Tea and coffee sachets plentiful, and well stocked small refridgerator. Room appeared extremely clean, and was well cleaned and restocked each day. The included Buffet Breakfast each morning was excellent, with subtle menu variations each day. Very tasty and catered for all cultures. Restaurant staff always friendly and attentive. Pool area nice, but not big and open compared to other hotels. It looked "full and busy" with only 10 or 12 people there. Hotel is in a fantastic location, enabling easy walks down to the riverfront, Chinatown, City Hall MRT etc. Very handy 7/11 convenience store just around the corner. Concierge staff excellent and extremely friendly and always helpful. My only criticism was the room door appeared very thin. Could always hear when other guests walked by at all hours. Apart from that..would definitely recommend the hotel.
