very nice reception, lobby and interior, but less friendly
We stayed there because of recommendation of a business friend, the lobby i the 1st floor and reception in the second floor are amazing, but as soon as it came to the friendliness of the front desk, the total score became less, ...we mean, not friendly in the way of giving a smile, but the service is not as nice as the appearance of the hotel.
Some keys ( magnet cards) didn't work, we wasted much time going up and down asking the front desk to re-programm, it also happened to our business friend who booked another room at MM, they can not fulfil a simple request eventhough we ordered it early enough for our next stay in January 2012 !! Is the service different ,because we didn't book directly but through asiarooms ?

The service at the front desk is enough to put you off staying there... Having arrived at 3pm for a wedding at 5pm I was told that I would have to wait an hour for my room... If this is the case a hotel should warn you in advance. After an uncomfortable conversation with the front desk manager, at which voices had to be raised and a 20 minute wait, a room magically appeared. An annoying start to my stay and unnecessarily stressful.

Very Disappointing Vacation
The overall service quality of the hotel is very disappointing for both me and my husband. The first day we checked in, it took them almost 30 min. just to find our only one luggage and bring it up to our room. We got a non-smoking room, but somehow there were some cigarettes left on the balcony. The bed sheet they used for our bed was not only dirty but also did not cover all the king sized mattress. We went down to the lobby to ask for someone to clean the balcony and change the bed sheet just to find out that when we came back 5-6 hours later (at night), everything remained the same. My husband had to go down to the lobby again to scream before someone came to change the bed sheet. (Of course, the cigarettes were still out on the balcony.) Later that night I found out that both sink drains in the bathroom leaked. On the second day, our key cards did not work, so we went down to the lobby to get the new ones and started complaining (cigarettes, bed sheet, leaking sink drains and key cards). 5 hours later a responsible person came up to our room to ask what happened and apologize...almost 48 hours response... is this really what we can expect from a 5 star hotel? The apology did not help as what we experienced already ruined our weekend. In fact, we now doubt the service quality of this hotel brand. No way we will go back to stay at this hotel ever again.

A poor stay-in experience for a well-branded hotel
The only two things great about the stay were the harbour view of the room - we were able to catch the NDP rehearsal and fireworks, and buffet spread for breakfast at AquaMarine. Apart from this, it is high time Marina Mandarin consider refurbishing its guest rooms to be on par with the other hotels in the vicinity. Furniture in the room were old, especially the design of the bathroom. Carpet was stained, couch was really dusty, a bunch of hair was found on top of the mini bar area, hot water flask had leftover water, mini bar was rusty on the inside!!! Need I say more?! Under-staff at the Atrium Lounge - we were there for high tea and were not shown to our seats. Our orders either took quite some time to arrive (eg. cocktails) or were completely forgotten (eg. coffee/butter).
