Centre of things
Ideal position right on Clarke Quay, in the centre of the river district. Well appointed rooms, with view over river and city. Easy access to shopping, food, nightlife.

Flooding toilet
The whole toilet would flood after using shower room (shower water get splash out due to the door gap). Can earily fall down due to the wet and slippery floor.

An Enjoyable Stay but...
A quick/friendly check in at 4.30am. Arrived at out room to find it was to small for what we had booked - 3 adults 1 child. Reception quick to rectify and change rooms but please note if you are with a family the rooms are not big enough. The sofa bed was too small for two people, but not much could be done. Dont really call this a family friendly hotel, the kids club was a little pokey corner away from anyone and it had an xbox and a very small indoor climbing frame. The staff in the Square Restaurant were very friendly and there was a good selection to chose from. Good location and close to major shopping complex and MRT.

Noveotel is fine, no surprises
Check in was excellent, offered free gifts to the kids after I asked for them.
Rooms were fine, great views - we had to book executive as that was all that was left at SG$410 per night, excellent service, kids excluded from the free drinks and canapes so we couldn't go either, but they provided them when asked on another level.
They advised us the kids could use the free XBox and kids area whilst we had drinks, but it's simply a couple of chairs and a computer in the midst of elevators and restaurants with no attendance so very unsafe for children unsupervised (& we didn't want to sit in the corridor either)
OK location, but food at Clarke Quay area hideously expensive, once we realised this and travelled elsewhere it was great. There is a good and cheap pizza restaurant in the basement shops/mall here.
walking distance to Raffles & MRT just across the river.
Someone described it as no nonsense, get what you expect, no hidden costs nor surprises and I guess that's pretty true, although at $410pn - I would like a little more than the basics. we've been spoilt by the luxury of Holiday Inn / Shangri La hotels, so hoped for more.
Room quite noisy until around 2am and we were on the 18th floor, wouldn't like to be any lower!
Overall: 1 of the only hotels we can have 2 kids under 16yrs with us, however, may have been cheaper buying 2 rooms elsewhere, service - fine, location - fine, room - quite acceptable, beds - hard! (as per most of China and some parts of Asia), stay again? probably not on leisure, but yes, perhaps, if on business or a quick stop over.
We had a few problems which were immediately addressed as we were on the exec' floor, I suspect they may not have been dealt with easily if we were on a standard floor.
If the price difference is not much between standard and exec' definitely go for the upgrade. It was probably the difference between service / sleep and attention.

Novotel Clarke Quay
All staff were superb. Room is starting to show signs of wear. Room facilities basic (no teaspoons provided) and only minimum number of towels. Free internet access available near reception but very public. Lack of free wifi in rooms is surprising.

Our booking said that we could book...
Our booking said that we could book in from 1400. Our plane was late and we arrived about 1600 to be told a room was not ready for us and we were told to wait. After 30 minutes my husband insisted that a room be found immediately. After someone was sent upstairs to find an available room, we were finally given a room 15 minutes later. After a long flight from Australia, having to wait so long for a room was totally unacceptable. The bed was harder than we like, and the covering was a doona (duvet) which was far too hot to sleep under. As no top sheet or an alternate blanket are provided, we were uncomfortable and unable to sleep until we removed the doona cover and used it as a light blanket. The restaurant buffet was not to the same standard that we had experienced on any of our previous trips to Singapore. The range and variety of dishes were less. I noted that the "hot" food was merely warm and I wonder if it was at the required >60 degrees Celsius for food to be kept safely. I also seem to recall that on our previous stay, the toiletries provided were of a better standard. I find the lack of provision of a face washer (flannel) in the bathroom to be an inconvenience. We also found it somewhat unpleasant that dirty dishes and trays left outside rooms from room service meals remain in the corridors for many hours.

Stayed here a few years ago and was glad to come again. The Novotel is well situated and only a short stroll to the MRT. My wife and I enjoyed the stay and are pleased to say have referred another friend to stay here. We look forward on coming back again. Thank you for the late check out.
