Big room but dirty
Room was large but dirty, electrical wires exposed in the wall
Worth Considering
My comments are against the rating made:
(1) Although busy, the receptionist(s) were helpful. Told me there is cable in the room for my laptop and where it was located but it did not work. When I contacted them, I was told I could use the Business Center connection, free of charge. Would help if the computer cable was next to the desk instead of the fridge;
(2) Except for the tiny ants after my food, the place was well kept;
(3) Would have given it a 5/6 if not for the shower handle coming off (poorly maintained). Love the shower! Room was spacious unlike some we had stayed in before. A/C functioned okay except it developed condensation and started dripping water onto the floor. The bed was comfortable enough. It even had a fridge and the TV worked well!! Nope, the walls are not thin and overall, quite quiet;
(4) Based on what Singapore hotels are charging nowadays, it is highly recommended for a short stay.
NB: Do not compare based on $ per night but between hotels of similar rating.

First time stay. Stayed 3 nights. I must say its really value for money. Rooms are quite big considering that its a budget hotel. Staff were polite and helpful. A convenience store and coffee shops just next to d hotel. Will definitely be back.

This hotel offers superb value in this expensive city. Room size is large (even larger than some of the more expensive hotels). Ensuite bathroom is a good size too. Nice size bed also. Room facilities are no frills but does include free broadband internet, tv and tea/coffee/bottled water. There is no restaurant in the hotel so you'll need to eat out, you can find many restaurants in the local area at reasonable value. Hotel location was good although out of the city center, MRT is about 10 minutes walk. I recommend this hotel for short stay travellers.

Looking for a cheap overnight hotel on my way to Malaysia.Taxi was expensive from airport$21sg one way(peak hour loading)Hotel felt a bit run down and tired.Pool area nice for a swim and very large and clean looking.Room was a let down.Very basic with lino floor and two single beds pushed together.OK for budget travellers looking to upgrade from a hostel.

Awesome hotel. Great location and close to the airport. Lots of local eateries within a minutes walk. The staff were outstanding and always helpful.Thanks staff. Although we only stayed 1 night, would definately book a weeks holiday. Deluxe Room was large and really clean and the pool was great.
Upon arrival we were given room 211,...
Upon arrival we were given room 211, when entering it was already occupied, luckily nobody in. We said sort it out we needed to go shopping, upon return we asked for 2 extra pillows.
Later in the room we got two extra towels, the second time we got the pillows.
Also I think that the room rate was higher then when we booked.
The aircon oscillating louveres are missing, only one sachet of tea, mixed with sugar and milk as well as 1 coffe the same, I drinki tea without milk, they did not have anything else,
When I asked at what time the breakfast bar opened in the morning, the reception guy answered no breakfast, then he said we never served breakfast, what was a lie for last year, we saw the breakfast being set up next to the pool.
So I do not recommend it any more, especiaslly not with lying staff.

I booked online into Hotel81-Tristar, Singapore - on double-checking my diary I found I was out by one day and let AsiaRooms know within the hour. To their credit, the change was made without penalty.
The area is surrounded by Muslimville and its eateries, wth my side overlooking a quiet park. My stay was from 11/2/2010 to 16/2/2010. The courtesy of the staff was put to the test once I settled into Room 416, a space that I assume had been unused for some time. A substantial mould was on a plastic tray in the fridge, while a mug on top was linked to the wall behind by a small spider

Location good near Malaysian Village, 10 minutes walk to Paya Lebar MRT station.
Plenty of local food courts nearby.
Front Desk staff very helpful.
Excellent swimming pool.
Breakfast arrangements not great, Tea/coffee in room.
Room large, clean with aircon.
All in all a good experience.
