The York hotel is just a simple hotel. The room was clean and tidy. I just want to complain about the staff. They need to smile more than us. The location quite far from Orchard road. Need to have a lot of stamina to go to Orchard road.
I wasn't too impressed with the York...
I wasn't too impressed with the York hotel. Staff were unfriendly and not very accommodating, ranging from the front desk staff, to the porters who remained motionless whilst they watched us carry up 5 suitcases up the stairs to the main entrance, to the surly housekeeping staff who were visibly unimpressed at being asked to provide additional towels.
Rooms were of a decent size, although fairly basic. This hotel classifies itself as 4 star, but I would say it's only just scraping into that 4 star category and it is more equivalent to a 3 star travelodge in the UK. Bathrooms were small and pokey and even more basic than the rooms.
The walk from the hotel to Orchard road is a painful 15 minutes in the blistering heat (up hill on the way back) and there are far more convenient hotels to stay in if you're looking at the Orchard road area.
Overall a fairly functional, basic hotel, but not what I would call a luxury one. If you have low expectations and don't mind a perfunctory, unimaginatively decorated 1970s style basic bedroom (with a tv which hasn't been tuned in properly), then this is the place for you. If you want luxury, go elsewhere.

The York hotel location is great. However the hotel customer service completely sux. The rooms are average. The room I was given was smelly, not completely clean and there was hair on the bed.... If this was the last hotel on earth, i will prefer to stay on the streets.
Requested a non-smoking room on the lower...
Requested a non-smoking room on the lower levels, however I was given a smoking room on the topfloor, at least the smell in the room suggested someone had been smoking in there. I am not superstitious, but I did not feel comfortable in a room on the 13th floor, number 13!

My wife and I enjoyed our stay in York Hotel Singapore. Our only regret is at check -in - we had to wait an hour on the plea that room was being preapared. This should not happen, specilly when they knew our arriving time.

Our stay at the York Hotel was...
Our stay at the York Hotel was fabulous!! Not disappointed in anyway.. This hotel was ideally situated, just a few minutes walk to the main Orchard Road. The hotel was spotlessly clean, and the staff were so welcoming and very friendly. The buffet breakfast was great also, we are quite fussy eaters but still had plently of choice.. Would definately go back there!!!

After we booked the York Hotel we looked forward to a nice stay in Singapore and we were not disappointed at all. Staff was friendly, rooms were nice and clean. Just the breakfast buffet could have been a little bit better. We even came back for another night after few days we spent in Thailand and staff recognized us again and gave us a nice welcome back. The new room was clean and nice too. I would certainly recommend this hotel to my friends !

After staying at several hotels in Bangkok at comparable rates, and having read the reviews of the York Hotel before we booked, we were quite disappointed on arrival. Especially disappointing was the buffet breakfast. Hardly any selection of rolls and types of breads, very limited selection of fruit.
