Overall York hotel is excellent value. The location was good for me and food etc well catered for. Internet access via hotel's computers limited, more terminals required. Better provision for quick taxi acquisition required. Room cleaning service quick and excellent.

The hotel airconditioning was too cold and...
The hotel airconditioning was too cold and we ended up with flu Not easy to find areas within the hotel, eg we couldn't fint the Carriage Bar without returning to ask directions more than once and drinks & service in the Carriage Bar was poor Breakfast was great but the wait staff could have been more friendly and helpful. The hotel was quite close to Orchard Rd. However it was sometimes very difficult to get taxis, due to the location There wasn't enough soap etc in the bathroom. We had to keep asking for extra, but the rooms were large and clean. Not enough facility instructions in the room.

The York Hotel provides good value for...
The York Hotel provides good value for money. It is in a quiet location close to Orchid Road and has an excellent restaurant. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

We were disappointed on arrival when we had to wait until the evening for a non smoking room, having paid fully for accomadation 4 months in advance.The reception staff were apologetic and helpful with this matter but I feel the system needs changing. The dinning area for breakfast was fine but we felt it didn't have a good atmosphere to have dinner there and noticed very few people useing it for dinner. Apart from the above our 14 day stay at the York Hotel was a pleasant experience and would recommend it. We would like to add the staff were always polite and helpful during our stay.

Nice but they really know how to...
Nice but they really know how to charge you, you can not even drink your own drinks by the pool even if they come from the over priced bar fridge, Not really there fault as all booze in Singers is costly, but hey this place has a great beakfast and is very handy to all. If I was to return to Singers I would stay there again however I don't think I would spend the time there again as I feel five days there was more then enough.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel....
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Because of my long flight and arriving after midnight, I was very tired and neglected to ask for a room with a full or king sized bed, and instead got a room with two twin sized beds. When I booked the room I had originally requested a room with a single large bed such as a king size bed. One of the dispappointments was the construction noise outside near the hotel. I was able to hear loud, clanking, pounding noises which were annoying. I should have also requested a room as far away from the noise as possible. Otherwise, I found my stay at this hotel to be enjoyable and would stay there again in the future. I found the free breakfasts to be very good and added to the total value of my stay.

The location of this hotel was in...
The location of this hotel was in a quiet street with a couple of other hotels but was in easy reach for Orchard Road shopping. The room was nice and large which is better than other hotels I've stayed in Singapore. The whole hotel had lots of open interior space which is far better than some of the other slightly cramped hotels in the same price bracket. Breakfast was in a large modern lounge to the side of the hotel. Plenty of choice of local and western food. Food quality was good. Generally hotel service was very good, the staff always saying hello. Although I did not try it, there was a outside pool and jacuzzi which looked modern and clean, although it is very much overlooked by buildings. You can book tours from a tour representative who usually sits in the hotel lobby. Definitely go on the Night Safari tour. Overall a very good hotel if you are spending a couple of days in the Orchard Road area.

The service is really poor and one...
The service is really poor and one has to carry one's luggage up the steps while the door man looks on. The hotel could do with improved services. It is centrally located and is obviously full in season times, so they may not be caring about what travellers feel about their facilities. But with serious competions all around they need to work hard on getting their facilities in order. The management needs to be aware that before advertising on the net as a star hotel, they need to do some serious work.
