For somebody looking for a good, basic, clean hotel in a great location in Singapore the Robertson Quay would be hard to beat. Ask for a river facing room on the upper levels and you will get argueably one of the best views in Singapore - especially on a Friday night when the locals are out flying their radio controlled kites. Easy walking distance to Clark Quay, Chinatown, and the MTR station for travelling further afield. The rooms, and in particular the bathrooms, are small but useable and most people don't go to Singapore to sit in a hotel room! Buffet breakfast is OK and there is a good bar adjacent to the hotel. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The outdoor swimming pool was an unexpected bonus. Highly recommended for people on a budget in what can be an extremely expensive city.
