Shuttle Servie may Help
Could not fault the service and facilities, however, a shuttle service, every hour to a drop off pioint in Orchard Road would assist as taxis are not very easily obtainable.

Value for Money
Very conviniently located for travel to the business districts as well as worthy sightseeing locations....Well sized Room for family. While overall we had a very nice experience, the rooms were well sized, very clean, prompt House keeping services, smooth check in and check out........ the centralized AirCon may need some maintenance as we had difficulty in controlling the temp to our liking. Would recommend travellers to put this bet and stay at this Hotel !! Cheers !!

Hotel and hospital
I was in Singapore with my 12 year old son for his medical check ups and treatments. The Royal Newton is very convenient if you have to go to the Mount Alvernia hospital. You can take the bus just across the road. You will only have to walk a few minutes to the hospital. For your leisure visits it is very easy to go around by yourself. The bus in front of the hotel takes you to Orchard Road within no time. We also booked a trip via the hotel's travel agency to the zoo. The staff in the hotel is friendly; however I can feel that they must have a lot of visitors who stay for 1-2 nights only. Although we stayed for 4 nights we didn't feel that the staff became more familier/recognized us. I personally like a more familier touch. The coffeeshop/restaurant for breakfast is rather small. I felt we sometimes had to 'fight' for a place to sit and at two occasions we shared a table with other hotel guests. No problem, because I like to meet other travellors and we were lucky to have friendly table partners. We also ate one dinner in the same restaurant. At that time of the day there was plenty of room. We had made reservations for a non-smoking room and got a nice and fresh room on a special non-smoking floor. We really appreciated this. The room was clean and convenient. We didn't get to use the swimming pool, or any other hotel facilities; however we did make use of the internet. Although it is more expensive than an internet cafe, we thought a 3 hour pre-paid connection was good value. We made several visits to the next door shopping centre (with Starbucks, a food court, supermarket and a lot of other shops). We will definately come back next month for our next hospital visit.

Avoid like the plague
To say we had an awful time is an understatement. We arrived in good spirits, our room was not ready but they did accommodate us by providing a complimentary coffee in the gladiatorial arena that is their restaurant. In this arena of champions if you do not have your wits about you, not only will you not get a seat but you may just lose your table if you do not make sure someone stays at the table at all times. This was only 30mins into our stay. The walk down the corridor was like a scene out of wipe-out, there was literally water leaking from the floor above onto the corridor, and with luggage in hand you to stop, drop and roll to avoid the deluge. Our room looked like a scene out of a bad C grade adult movie, with pleather couches to boot. This is still day one. Good thing Singapore the city made up for where we were staying in truck loads, but in this reviews opinion the place you stay needs to be the cherry on top of a holiday, not the low starting point. We managed to endure two more days, which included spending inordinate amounts of time in the egg line, which had to weave its way around other diners trying to wolf down their breakfast so as to get the hell out of the dining room as soon as possible. The Straw that broke the camel's back Upon check out we were both broken husks of the people who walked into the hotel full of cheer and joy. When checking out, they informed us they would be billing us yet again for our room, for some reason they couldn't quite explain. At this point we just wanted to leave as soon as possible we couldn't be bothered with the explaination and just paid what they said and left the place running as fast as possible. Upside? The room service staff were the most pleasant people we met in the whole country, must be because they realise if they don't they will be out of work as people leave the hotel in droves. Review 1/10 Great place to have a bucks party!

Great location, ideal for families
This is my second time to stay with my family. The family room is big enough for my kids to enjoy. Location is great, near Novena MRT, Novena church, Novena-Velocity Mall and United Square. The Kopitiam in Velocity mall was an answer to our hunger pangs. The staff at the reception desk was very accommodating. Check-in and check-out procedures were fast.

Very dated decor - recpecption staff had to be prompted to serve upon arrival. Room not ready when we checked in at 3:00pm (Check in after 2:00pm) Had to request to get room made up every day - often we returned to our room after 4:30pm and it was still not made up! Hotel was chosen for location to shops and friends in Novena but would not stay here again. Unable to rate restaurents as we chose not to eat there.

A nice stay
Stayed here for a short holiday in Singapore. It was a nice location, though a few blocks from tge MRT. I walked to Little India in 20-30 minutes. The room was fair-sized and very clean. Breakfast was OK though not great. I'd stay here again.

Disappointed
Having stayed at the hotel for the night 20Feb, we were reasonably happy, so we decided for a second stay as above. 1. Our room was 1322 this time, last time 1319 two doors. Our first stay $212.00Sin including breakfast, this stay $280.00Sin breakfast was supposed to be included, but reception said our very high rate was room only. I requested to see the manager but he was too busy!!! Reception would not assist until I requested they call Asiarooms, which I was advised at first your lines were busy, and advised you had closed for the day 1600hrs? Fortunately I had booked the reservation from my daughters apartment, retreived the booking on her computer and forwarded it to the hotel showing breakfasts were confirmed. Reception at first said they had not received your confirmation, but after half an hour they finally admitted they had it and very rudely handed us a voucher for breakfast. They had plenty of rooms available that night,as a couple off the street walked in and booked a room with breakfasts for $230.00, and they were advised the hotel had plenty of rooms available, this I over heard while trying to sort my problems out. Our room was alright but would have been better if we had plugs for the wash basin and the shower worked. We were very disappointed with the reaction wereceived from reception and feel we were grossly overcharged for our accomodation that night. Under the circumstances we feel compansation is due by of a refund. I look forward to your assistance in this matter, Yours faithfully, Graham S Vestey
