It was the 1st time to stay at Bencoolen;
perfect location --> very central for SIN step over, also well connected to airport highway;
room was a little bit small, but completely clean,
outdoor pool is more a bathtub than a pool (very small); nice gym --> staffed well
small breakfast (incl.) well for starter
CAUTION: take care for prizes during bigger events (e.g. fairs in SIN) --> surplus charges, which are not announced on internet
For short stop over at SIN any time again

The hotel is rated three star but doesn't offer the facilities of one; it is pricy considering the room size, facilities and service; you have to be careful walking in the hallway as it is not even and there are small steps here and there; it is like a budget motel in North America; the air con in the room blows your head throughout the night and the thermostat control in the room doesn't seem to work; the room is small and the hotel essnetially provides no service at all; the only good thing about the hotel is the breakfast;

The hotel was surprisingly good value for money. The room was very clean and the size was good compared to other hotels in this price range. The bed was a little firm, but comfortable. The bathroom size was very good and had a seperate shower which is unusual in a budget hotel room in Singapore. The water was fast flowing and nice and hot, which I loved! The pool was small but adequate, and very secluded. There was a small room with modern gym equipment for patrons use as well near the pool area. The breakfast was limited, but I was happy with the quality of the food, tables were limited outside, but more were available at the adjacent bar. The bar area stank of smoke and was very dark and dingy. The staff were quite friendly and warm. The entry and lobby area perhaps needed brightening up, and the lifts were very slow and only one of the 2 lifts went to level 5??? But overall I would strongly recommend this hotel as good value for money for the budget conscious, and the bonus is that it is very centrally located. Only 5 minutes walk from Bugis St Markets and Sim Lim Square, and 5 minutes by taxi to Orchard St or Suntec City shopping areas. I rate this hotel as 8/10 for the budget traveller, you won't find a much better hotel all up for this money, trust me!

The staff are friendly and accomodating. Though the room is quite small, it is clean. The food, on the other hand, is also good. Overall, I enjoyed our stay in Hotel Bencoolen.
Hotel Bencoolen is in an ideal location...
Hotel Bencoolen is in an ideal location in Singapore. However the rooms are miniscule, so if you want to be able to move around, dont book anything less than King Solomon(we upgraded on our first day and it cost a small fortune). Breakfast is a farse,1 x 2 slice toaster, however there are lots of great eating places across the road.

We stayed at the Bencoolen for 3 days in November. Everything i read on the reviews were true. For a budget hotel, this hotel offered clean,comfortable rooms and bathroom. The staff were accomodating and one can see that they take great pains in trying to keep the hallways,carpets, rooms and elevator clean and fresh smelling. Although it was the tiniest hotel room we've ever stayed in, it was just enough for my husband and me for our short stay in Singapore.

Although the room is small it is enough for 1 or 2. The breakfst is not elaberate but tasty and sufficient. The pool incorporates a spa which is welcome after all that walking and the concierge is fantastic with all his local knowledge and very friendly manner. The front desk staff are also curteous and helpful. I would definatley stay there again.

The room is small but clean. Ideal for people who just wants to use it for sleeping. It's pretty near to the MRT station. What was troublesome was that they start their breakfast only at 7.30am and they do not have proper room or enough tables to cater for all their customers. 7.30am breakfast start is too late.

Good location, close to Dhoby Ghaut station, Plaza Singapura and Orchard Road in one direction and Bugis Street in other direction. Good value for money
