Hotel was great. Check in and out...
Hotel was great. Check in and out was very efficient and quick. Room was a comfortable size for 2 single beds. I found the pillow a bit too hard! Bathroom was fine, ventilation and or an exhaust fan would probably help combat the mildew, but even then that wan't too bad. The breakfast had a good selection, however the the food heating system was not the best and some of the food was a little on the cold side. Would stay here again, close and handy to Little India, Little China, and Orchard Road. November 2005.

We were not very happy with our rooms. The rooms are in much need of repair ie/ wallpaper peeling off the walls and the genral condition of the bathroom was appalling. There was mould everywhere and it was very dirty. One of my colleagues moved out and checked into a hotel across the road. You may need to consider your Star Rating on this hotel. Its says its a 4 Star but in reality its more like a 2 Star.

We stayed at the Hotel Royal at...
We stayed at the Hotel Royal at Queens for two nights last Oct. 14-16.We found the hotel to be quite reasonable fot its price. Everything written about in the reviews on Asiarooms proved to be true though...the rooms did have a funky, musky smell and the toilet leaked everytime it was flushed. I think they only concentrated on the lobby when they decided to renovate the place. Breakfast was okay. The staff was accomodating- not too friendly but they did their jobs right. The best part about the hotel is really the location. It's on the quiet side of town but just a block away from all the action. Basically an okay hotel to stay in if you're on a tight budget. We could say that we got our moneys worth :-)

8/31/05 - At arrival attendants were very helpful and pleasant. Front desk very helpful. Room was in upper level, pleasant appearance and clean. But room was worn down.  You can tell that the building was old.  Room had musty smell. A/C did not work good, call for repairs. They came promptly, but never fixed correctly. TV channels could be better, but since they had CNN. I was content. Breakfast buffet is ok, tolerable. It didn't turn my stomach.  Not a gourmet selection.  For the price, it was a OK place. I would stay again.

This is the first time my wife and I have stayed at the Royal on Queens, and I must say I was pleasently surprised with size of the room. It was clean and comfortable, with plenty of room to open up our bags. The staff where polite and helpful. The only complaint I had was the hotel did not have a hospitality room where guests could shower or freshen up if  they had a late departure.

The rooms were spacious and clean with good facilties. The hotel is in a great location - close to Bugis Junction, MRT and the Raffles area. The staff were generally helpful and friendly. 2 areas for consideration: 1: Checking in and out was very slow. There were 4 desks but only 1 staff member attending to all guests when I was there. I had to wait for 20 minutes before I could check out. 2: The buffet breakfast is a great idea except the quality wasn't as good as I anticipated after eating at other hotels in Singapore. I was down for breakfast at 9am and many of the trays were empty - some hot food, no fresh fruit and a bit untidy. I was disappointed and expected that the quality would have been consistent throughout the breakfast dining period.

Long time I have not stood in...
Long time I have not stood in a hotel like the Royal at Queens. I booked for 3 nights due to the unavailability of rooms. First impression when I came to the lobby was good. The apearence of the lobby was modern, clean and friendly. The receptionist was very unfriendly and unprofessional, she did not like that new guest check in and do have some questions. I insisted on kingsize bed as reserved. After long back and forth I got a room after 10 minutes. It was more like an apartment, with kitchen and dining table. 20 years ago it was maybe in a good condition. It was very smely and shabby. The breakfast in any foodcourt is better. I moved out of the hotel after 1 night! Never again!!!!!
