Make sure that you do not have a room on the ground floor, since the windows/balcony doors open out onto a public area. If you don't want people to look in, you will have to have the curtains closed all the time, making the room more like a dark cell. I also had an air-conditioner in my room that made noises every few minutes, waking me up from sleep! The staff did nothing to remedy this, despite my complaint, nor did they give any explanation or apology.
