Awesome stay
I requested for a room away from the main road when I booked the acccommodation online. On arrival, I was pleased to find I was assigned a room on the pleasant back terrace with a water feature. The reception staff at the counter went to the extra mile to help when I picked up my left luggage. His customer service really exceeded my expectation.

Just an average stay
The room I had was next to the main road. Yes, there is a window view, but the noise was amazing loud! You can hear the noise of all the traveling vehicles, especially when there was buses.... OMG, the noise is unbearable.

cheap 'n' cheerful
Had friends living nearby and choose Le Peranakan on this basis but was pleasantly suprised to find a little gem. Based on price, I wasn't expecting much but found the room to be very clean and the service to be extremely welcoming and effecient. Had all the services of a big hotel - safes, wake up calls, linen changing etc. Room was small but Singapore is not a place where you spend a lot of time in your room. Found the surrounding area to be very vibrant - great mix of restaurants and bars to suit all tastes plus within walking distance to East Coast Park. Plenty of public transport options nearby and the airport just a 15 minute cab ride away. Two thumbs up!

The room is clean but is small. Took the room without windows and the size can be constricting for anyone. Future guest may want to consider taking one with the windows and pay abit more.

Quaint...
The hotel is apparently designed for the small-boned Asian physique - the more ample, big-boned North American physique will have some difficulty negotiating the bathroom. However, the water in the shower is piping hot and plentiful and has a five-star pressure rating. No little bottles of toiletries, just some washing cream from a dispenser an inconvenient distance from the shower.
Twin bed was very comfortable, linen spotless.
Not much space to move around - two in this standard room would have to be experienced choreographers.
Only place to sit is the bed. The closet is only a top half to hanging your clothes - the bottom half holds a small safe which needs an initial password from the front desk to retract the locking bars. The coffee making stuff is also in the top half of the closet so that you have to move things onto the small bedside table if you hang up any clothes. Then you don't have anywhere to put all those things you normally put on the night table! One becomes an experienced logistic problem-solver.
The staff is very friendly, very helpfu and very patient.
The street outside is a main thoroughfare and taxis are easy to flag down. There are a number of varieties of restaurants in the immediate neighbourhood so the hotel's lack of a resaurant is not a drawback.
The hotel is in an area with many Sinhalese houses, which makes the area much more culturally interesting that that of 'downtown'. This hotel is half-way between the airport and downtown. Taxi costs around 15 Singapore dollars - metered. You don't have to dicker, barter or stress out over the fare.

Nice small hotel
There are two main buildings in this hotel. One with stairs with a foodcourt below it and the other with a lift where the receptionist is located.
I've got the one with the stairs and room with no window. The room is indeed small but it's interior decoration was enough to make you feel comfortable. And the wifi was another good thing to enjoy.

Recommended
The room is very clean, staff service is good (any special request for the room they will entertain but certainly are those that they can manage). Just that the room is quite small, just enough space to put the luggage under the table and behind the door (cabin size luggage).
Bathroom also quite small, we're asian ladies below 60kg, you can imagine our size, we find it a bit cramp for the bathroom.
If you're just there for business meeting for tour whole day, room is just for sleep, I'll recommend this place, restaurants and local foods are within walking distance (5-10min). Nearest MRT (Eunos) station is about 25 min walks.
Wi-fi is ok, but certain rooms will have weaker signal, so must inform the staff if internet is a must for you, in fact, the staff are very helpful.
For this price, I'll say the room is good, I'll stay again if I'm in Singapore.
