The Sun Beach Hotel was adequate at best. The staff spoke surprisingly little English for a tourist hotel. As a frequent traveler, I can live with that if the staff is at least willing to try to do a little pointy-talky to help me get around. But most of the staff at the Sun Beach Hotel didn't seem interested in helping in any language. The room smelled of cigarettes, the furniture throughout the hotel was badly worn and in ill repair, light switches were broken, the shower curtain was too short and allowed water to leak onto the bathroom floor, and the only towels in the bathroom were hand towels that retained the smell of sweaty gym towels even after being washed. On the basement floor below the lobby there were two seedy establishments that were advertised as "massage" parlors. I asked the only friendly staff member about a massage (I was actually looking for a real sports massage - no "happy ending"), and even he recommended that I steer clear of these establishments in the same building as the hotel! Overall, you get what you pay for. At 80,000 won, the Sun Beach is in a good location, has a relatively clean bathroom and clean bed linens on an average quality bed - but you will definitely want to spend more time out in the town than in the hotel!
