Since its inaguration in 1926, the Hotel Carlton has been an emblematic building and Bilbao's most palatial hotel. It has been officially declared a Historical, Artistic and Cultural Monument. Throught its history it has been the seat of the Regional Government and witness to major social and cultural events.
