Location is the best value. Being a refurbished old building, do not expect the fancy of modern hotels, but is comfortable. Situated in zone 8, where the majority of sights to be seen are located. Plenty of road side eating places down the main street. There is even a convenient shop at a very close by side street. Less than 5 minutes walk to the metro station. And only a few stations with one change of lines from the Atocha Renfe station (AVE- the fast trains), when doing regional travel. Traveling in the AVE is definitely much more comfortable and convenient than flying. One can just front up at the station and buy a ticket anytime, unless one want to get the discount on the web in advance. But you must bring your own tooth brush, and a electric jug if you have a habit of hot drink.
