A perfect hotel to get away from it all. It's expensive to eat and drink here but the food is good and the location and facilities make it special.

we stayed in a room smaller than we had anticipated. the bathroom had a window that you could see inside the entire bathroom from the outside. i know because from our balcony you could see inside our bathroom. the window was even part of the shower. that doesn't make for a nice and comfortable shower. while in the shower, two of the light bulbs in the bathrooms exploded. we called for maintenance for cleanup, they cleaned up while we ate dinner, but when we came back, there was still glass all over the floor and parts of the countertop and sink. the food was excellent, and the view was amazing.

We were very impressed buy the hotel...
We were very impressed buy the hotel website and had very high hopes for the hotel. But I have to say that we were disappointed. The rooms are too small, and view from the balcony is too narrow. Because the monkeys are always hanging outside the balcony, it is impossible to use the balcony even during the day. The bedding is nice and clean, but the towels are a bit too old. The food in the restaruant has more choices than many other Sri Lanka hotels, although the Chinese food in the buffet tend to be overcooked and too salty. Although it might not be the most comfortable or luxurious hotel to stay, architectually, it is impressive. The design and sense of arrival is very impressive. You really can't see the whole hotel from anywhere. It is very much hidden, and its wings hug the rocky mountain like a few belts. It really blends in with the environment. It is a must visit for architects.

Having previously stayed at this superb hotel...
Having previously stayed at this superb hotel some 14 years ago, we were amazed to find no signs of ageing. The hotel is truly vast, deserving a few days stopover. Stunning location! Perfect eco-friendy design which merges with the surroundings. Breathtaking views from the restaurant are not surpassed, in our experience. We found no organised activities nor entertainment on site, but the choice of swimming pools, spa and excursions means that the tranquility of the hotel can be savoured in a relaxed manner. The staff are particularly friendly and helpful, whilst their presence is refreshingly unintrusive.

A truely wonderful location with pleasant helpful staff inattendance. A perfect place for an off the beat get away. Our only negative comments were that we felt the decor was becoming a little tired in the bedrooms and bathrooms. Not a great place for the infirm or anyone who didn't want a long walk between the main facilities not a problem to us however. We would certainly recommend it as a stop over when visiting the cultural triangle.

The hotel was lovely, really suited the environment and had a real "safari" type feel without compromising on comfort. really liked the rooms and the staff couldnt have been nicer. food was good and outings and trips offered were interesting. There's not a lot to do by night is about the only quibble so ideal for romantic getaway!! cost was another possible complaint considering the location and the fact that it was only half full I would have expected it to be cheaper. It's a bit of a trek from Colombo so I'd recommend staying for a few days. But all in all, very pleasant stay, really enjoyed visiting Sigiriya nearby and lounging around the infinity pool. Would recommend this hotal.
