Mr. Bayan was very helpful in showing me the area where the "room" was located, however, I felt that the website description of 5-10 minutes from the old city was not true. The walk to the old city was at least 30 minutes. Although it would have been nice to stay in an authentic Damascus community for a long-term stay, for example while learning Arabic, for the 3 days I was there, the location was not convenient. In fact, the last day, I chose to carry my bag around with me for the day in the old city before I caught the airport bus from Baramke, rather than returning to the "room". I emphasize "room" because the apartment I was given looked nothing like the pictures on the website. It was basically a room with a tiny water closet attached, and a kitchen. I am afraid it was the same size as a hotel room despite being described as an apartment. Next time, I will stay in a hotel or guesthouse in an area closer to the old city, like Souk Sarouja.
