The hotel was very close and convenient...
The hotel was very close and convenient to the train station. It was about a 5 minute walk down the road. Its location to other interesting sites one might want to see wasn't very convenient for walking, though I didn't notice too many other hotels with better access. It wasn't far, but the roads you'd have to cross and walk along were very busy. The tuk-tuk drivers made themselves easily available just outside the hotel, along the street. We found it convenient to hire them for several hours at 200 baht/hour (don't pay them until they drop you back off at the hotel). The hotel was also close to a point where you might catch a water ferry across the river (closer to the action)... though we didn't try to do this in our one-day stay.
The hotel had several restaurants, we only ate in the restaurant where they offered breakfast. We actually had a breakfast, lunch and dinner there. The food was decent, and in the evening, they offered live music.
The staff was pleasant and helpful, though they were a bit distracted and rushed. It seemed to be a very busy, well-known and popular hotel. During our stay, there were at least two different conference groups staying there. We came from the Khao Yai National Garden Lodge... they offer a tour where they pick you up from your hotel in Bangkok for a 3-day tour and deliver you back to Bangkok... we asked them to drop us off at the Krungski River Hotel instead, and they knew exactly which hotel it was.
Our stay in Ayutthaya was quite pleasant. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.
