Clean and big room. Non-existence customer service.
Non-existence Customer Service
When we arrived at the hotel, there were bell boys standing around but none helped us to get our luggage from the taxi or open the door. We were shocked by the standard of customer service, their staffs could barely speak English or form a proper sentence in English. What more is whenever we came back and want to get our key from the front desk, they would pretend to not see us at the desk and walk back into the room or play with their hair!
They couldn't recommend any places of interest to visit or food to eat. Always blank face and rarely smile. Work extremely slowly. Took us 20 minutes to check out of the hotel.
Room
Pros:
-Room is exactly like those featured in this website
-Big and clean
Cons:
-No safe deposit
-Infested by mosquito's
-Not sound proof. Very noisy when there are people talking or walking at corridor
Breakfast:
Pros:
-Decent food
-They keep the food fresh
Cons:
-Repetitive selection of food
-Limited selection

Best location but poor quality
This is my 3rd time stay with First House. It still be my choice because the location is superb strategic. It locate very near to few big wholesale market and shopping malls which just within short walking distance. If you are a shopaholic like me, this hotel will be your 1st choice. The room rate is also cheap. The staff at front desk is also friendly.
However, there are also some bad points. The room is still very old design and the carpet is not clean. But they are undergoing still undergoing renovation since my 2nd visit in 2009. They are started to renovate the room floor by floor which at the moment only 10th & 9th floor are the new design room which has modern look. Hope I'm able to try their new disign room in my next visit. Besides, they served the same breakfast everyday. It has been the same since my 1st visit in 2006. Can you believe? Strongly hope that the chef try to cook different dish please...

Value for money
Excellent location for shoppers, Platinum / Pantip / Indra Square/ Patunam Market and many more shopping malls just around the corner. Value for money, Clean and well attended rooms, certain floors are currently being refurbished and most of the newly refurbished rooms are looking really cool. Money changer next to the hotel gives the best rate in town. Staff friendly. guest friendly Reception and staff speaks fairly good English, All in all its value for money and would not hesitate to stay again...
Drawbacks,
No in house Kitchen/restaurant but provides a good breakfast only in the mornings. Little noisy during the day due to refurbishing taking place in top floors. Charges 100Baht per hour for internet / wifi which is fairly high compared to Internet cafes. Far from the sky train but plenty of taxy's are available.

Being charge for need of addtitional blanket ?
From experience, most hotel will have a quilt cover on the bed when arrival to the hotel, it serves as a decorative design to the room also as a blanket for the hotel guest throughout the stay in the hotel. i cannot understand why the cleaners have actually taken it away after the cleaning the next morning. I called the operator to replace me another one but they actually reject it saying they dont have "extra" Well the hotel is not 100% occupy surely they have but refuse to bring it to my room. And I decide to take the quilt from unoccupy room instead. I am not going to comebdown with a flu because of this. On the day while I having my breakfast before I checked out , the cleaners actually came to my room without informing and threw all my stuffs that were lying on the bed onto the floor and took the quilt away. I only reslised it when after breakfast I went to my room to collect my stuffs and checked out. I was fed up, but still I kept my cool, guess what ? They actually want to charge me for the "extra" quilt I took from another room, which is in the first place, suppose to be in my room and being taking away by the cleaners for no reason. This hotel suck............ The bell boy can demand tip from the guest... :S

The hotel was in the small alley yet nobody know about this hotel. Room is old and we can't find a kettle or hair dryer. But is very convenience to a shopper that Pratunam market is beside the hotel and Platinum shopping centre is just 5 minutes time by walking.

Hotel Drinks
The hotel room 1310 has a bad smell. And we do hope the hotel can give us every day 2 bottles of 500ml free drinking water. At lease we when we arrived we has some drink to cover our thirstyness. And we do hope have cattle to boil the water.

Value for Money and Good Location
Good location - Close to Pratunam Market and within walkable distance to Platinum Mall and CentralWorld. Many food stalls in the alley and the area near Indra Regent and Baiyoke - must try, cheap and good.
Note: A refundable deposit of THB1,000 is required upon check in. Must get the receipt for this so that you can get this deposit back when you check out. Renovations are taking place at the upper floors when we were there. It will be very noisy in the daytime if you decide to stay in.
Although the hotel's website says that they have a Health Room Spa, they don't. There's a phone number to call for Thai massage service to come to your hotel room. You will find the number in your room or you can get it from the hotel staff. Massage service charges are THB300 for 1 hour and THB500 for 2 hours. We've tried it once. It was okay.
The hotel counter staff says that they can call the massage service for us but they didn't tell us that there's a charge of THB10 for each local call made. Alternatively, you can make the call yourself at the public phone booths opposite the hotel - only THB1 or THB2 for one call depending on call duration.
For those who wish to make calls from the hotel, please check with the hotel about the charges first before doing so.
Overall, this is a good place to stay for those who love to shop and have a decent place to sleep.

I have stayed in First House ever...
I have stayed in First House ever since I first came to BKK four years ago and I must say her services have definitely improved tremendously. Once laid back and unattentive, the staff was much more caring and helpful this time round. Maybe not comparable to top hotels but definitely stayable. I deal with female boutiques in Singapore and First He is just a stone throw away from the local cheapest wholesale market :) Furthermore, I lost my travel pouch with 500USD. The staff was kind enough not to press charges as I checked out late. I was really touched and grateful, will be back with the hotel the next month :)
