We stayed at the Manhattan at the beginning and the end of our holiday. Our first stay was 11th - 16th December, 2007. This was the better room of the two. It was large, situated at the front of the hotel and on the 4th floor.
Our second stay was on the 2nd and 3rd January, 2008, on our return to the U.K. There was some confusion about our booking; the reception could not decide if we should have a De-Luxe or Superior Room and we were allocated a room on the 8th floor at the back of the hotel. Although the furnishings were more up to date, it was a much smaller room and the view was very poor (the room was dark and looked out onto a half finished building - presumably another hotel). In this room, there was no hairdryer and when I used my own all the lights went out! The response from reception was excellent with an electrician there in a matter of minutes. He advised that the hairdryer had overloaded the circuit and if I wanted to use the dryer, we should only keep one light on!
However, overall, this was a very good hotel. The location was excellent - near the Skytrain and the Metro. The service was excellent, as was the choice of breakfast. It was excellent to have a swimming pool to use after a day's sightseeing!
Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel, but would advise that you specify a room at the front of the hotel and make sure it has a hairdryer!
