In my opinion, my experience with Manohra...
In my opinion, my experience with Manohra Hotel is not too great, just a bit below the average. Well, because when I first entered my room to check on any malfunctioning facilities, I found an armchair in front of the dressing table that had a weak stand. For this, I dared not to sit on it. What's more, everytime I inserted the room key in the slot near the door to light up the room, everything would black out after a few seconds! I then realised that the slot was spoilt, so I tried inserting my room key firmly a few times before everything looked okay. *Frustrating* However, only the bathroom and bed in general were in good working condition. Just that the room looked old. If you want to know about the level of service of the reception staff, I would not hope to meet them again, if given a choice. One female staff spoke to her colleagues in a rather impolite way and another male staff did not bother to look at me; he was too busy with the papers! Except for the lobby and taxi service staff, they are very helpful and friendly. I asked them how I can get to the place and they tried their best to explain the directions to me. I would recommend this hotel to anyone with a strong stomach for such attitudes and substandard conditions of the rooms.

checked in at 2 am and workers...
checked in at 2 am and workers were there to help out with no problems. room was simple and clean. TV had a couple good stations. Bathroom very simple, but everything was there. Water didn't get as hot as I like, but it wasn't cold. Only saw one bug, but I live in Hawaii, and roaches are very common. Had internet access. It was 24 hours, but rather pricey, at 150 baht an hour (about four dollars), but a nice convenience. I found that if I put my laptop in a certain spot in my room (I was on the 7th floor) I could pick up free wireless. Another thing is this hotel is on a different voltage, so you need an adapter. Another hotel in a different part of town had US voltage, but this one didn't. I bought an adapter from a lantern street vender for 75cents. Be careful with the tuk tuk drivers. He had said 30 baht and I said I was just going around the corner and we agreed on 15 baht for him to take me about four blocks, and I said one five, fifteen, and used my hands and said it more than once. But when he got there he tried to say 50. When I told him that's not what we agreed on he took off at about 70 miles an hour and took me in a big circle back where I came from. He was totally f***ing with me, sice his origonal price had been 30. Another driver saw what happened and came and picked me up while I was walking. Just don't let them screw with you. I would stay there again, if I was going to do things in that neighborhood. It is near a lot of the smellier parts of town though. Breakfast is simple, with fruit and 'sausage' (more like hot dogs), ham, frenck toast, and eggs. Nothing to rave over. Everyone was really friendly. But never get a cab from the front of a hotel stand. They will charge you an arm and whatever else they can get from you. It's more fun to walk past the stand and make them mad, and walk to the street and see who will pick you up. Make sure they will do meter before you get in. It was deffinitly worth the 23 dollars I paid. Don't let ignorant whiners make you think this is a crappy hotel.

With a triple room there is hardly any place for luggage or movement. Friendly staff at any time. They ran out of water one day for about 2 hours (in the morning)when normally everybody uses the bathroom. But hotelstaff was friendly in informing and keeping toilets going near lobby. Old hotel with old rooms but kept clean as possible. All by all average. But for same price (triple room) you can find a better (mandarin Hotel)

what a sorprise!. room faced north side, an run down bulding on a back alley, location ok since we love to walk if you do not mind. but the entire hotel is very deceiving. swimming pool very small and useless, like a pond. second night when we requested diferent room front center of entrance. the price was outreageos. decide to look for a better hotel less $$ and way better hotel, north of this one, cheking out was a pain, I forgot a bottle of milk on fridge purchased outside. they wanted to charge for it. overal, probably not staying there again.

The Manohra is not a place I would stay at again. The staff weren't friendly and the bellboys constantly harass you about where you are going and what you are doing. They then try and fix you up on overpriced tours. The room and facilities are adequate but a little gloomy. The location is not good as there is nothing really around the hotel. I would not recommend this place to anybody expect for short stays on buisness. The pool is tiny and right in the middle of the hotel lobby where everyone can watch you. It's a bit like being in a gold fish bowl.

I was pretty pleased with the hotel,...
I was pretty pleased with the hotel, It was comfortable and the staff were very nice, it was not far from the night market and other area of interest, my only negative comment would be that I had very little hot water in the bathroom, and no water pressure to speak of, other than that, it was comfortable, at a very good price.

I choosed the "Manohra Hotel because it has a very good location near Silom road and its shops or restaurants..and because I rent it in 1988 and 1994.HELAS!!!!!!! .. Today -exept the lobby ,the icy small inside s/pool and the lifts, witch are clean and moderns- this hotel is totally: -very old, -very very noisy, even if you have the "quietest" rooms facing the entry-parking ..but, if you have one room at 10 meters-distance from the expressway, it is impossible to live there!! -durty -without services -not to much friendly Conclusion -absolutely NO interest Q/P!!- I will never recommanded it; it looks like a poor YMCA for losted students from Asian countries (average :18 or 20 years old ),but the prices are hotel prices. PLEASE FORGET THIS OLD HOTEL (1966); BADLY MAINTAINDED; VERY VERY NOISY; IN FRONT OF THE EXPRESSWAY (AT THE LEVEL OF THE 3RD FLOOR!). -----BAD DEAL AND BAD RATIO Q/P.. ---

The hotel is centrally located in the...
The hotel is centrally located in the gems and jewellery district which suited me perfectly. It is within a short walking distance from Silom Road from where I could take a skytrain. The shower drainage was partly blocked, this probably made the floor tile dangerously slippery. One night, some guests were talking too loudly outside my room and hotel attended to that after I had rung the operator. Eric Cheong Sydney March '06
