When we first walked into the reception...
When we first walked into the reception of the hotel, it looked fantastic. However, the rooms were nothing out of the ordinary and we'd paid for an 'upgraded room' through the hotel.
Although the hotel is over the river, a free shuttle boat runs from 6.30am to midnight and drops you off at the Skytrain which takes you to most of the main shopping sites, bars, restaurants etc. It's worth buying a full day ticket as it only costs 120 baht and you can jump on and off the train as often as you like.
We paid extra through the hotel for an upgraded room, free snacks and drinks between 4pm and 8pm and breakfast (which was already included through Asia rooms). This worked out excellent value for money (3400 baht per night) as the drinks were quite expensive in the hotel and there was a good selection of snacks and breakfast. However, if you're not intending on spending much time in the hotel, I wouldn't recommend paying for this as the room didn't seem any different.
I wouldn't stay at this hotel again as I'd rather fork out a bit extra and stay at the Peninsula.
