The Maxx Hotel is a good hotel,...
The Maxx Hotel is a good hotel, the staff are willing to help out when problems arise, and the facilities are excellent. The cost of using the bar, restaurant, spa etc... can get expensive, but the standard is high. Would recommend this hotel if you can get it at the right price, and then just travel up the road to Fortune City for cheaper food, spa, bar etc. Its a 45B taxi/motorbike ride to the underground, so you can not walk it, but it is close to RCA, Fortune City, Club Hollywoods and Jitty Gym. Singto Muay Thai stayed here, and throughly enjoyed our stay, we will probably be back!

1) The bathroom has no hot water and the bath tub was faulty as i cant switch to shower mode. After a technician came, it was same as well. 2) The room wall was dirty and the window screen in the room is awful. 3) THe reception area was renovated like a 5-star hotel but the room was only 2-star quality. This is totaly disappointed. 4) Breakfast was same everyday and dont have corn flakes. It was really dissapointed and I guess I will never go back there again.

The hotel personal wasn't avaiable, didn't see anyone during the breakfast time, also at the gym, near swimming pool .. The service was not satisfied at all. The hotel location was so far from the Bangkok city. The food wasn't tasty. I wouldn't like to come back again to this hotel.

The hotel is badly in need of...
The hotel is badly in need of renovation to replace old, worn and rather grimy fittings and fixtures, decorations etc. There was a smell of stale cigarette smoke everywhere. The room and bathroom were clean and bed comfortable. The room safe was broken. The location is poor if you want to see the sights of Bangkok - you need to take a taxi (not expensive) to get anywhere at all; you would be unlikely to walk out from the hotel anywhere. It would be OK for a one-night stopover flying in/out of Bangkok as it is on the motorway network leading to the new airport. Our pre-planned day-tour operator did not pick up at this hotel but the concierge was very helpful in finding a driver to take us out for the day. Food in Thailand is excellent but the evening meal in the hotel was the least good of all our meals there. The breakfast buffet was basic and service (refilling empty serving bowls) very slow. The room with breakfast was very cheap so may suit a those on a tight budget.

Although this hotel is a little distance...
Although this hotel is a little distance from the main nightlife and downtown shopping in Bangkok, it is still only 100bht (less than $1!) to get most places in an air conditioned 'meter taxi'-which are extremely plentiful, day or night. Depending on the time of day and given the sometimes dreadful Bangkok traffic jams, it can take anything from 20 minutes to an hour to get to the main tourist shopping and bars area of Silom Rd for instance. Less than 5 minutes away is a very trendy and popular area on Royal City Avenue with a large selection of bars and restaurants. The hotel is quite convenient for the current international airport, being located on the North side of the city, and only a 15 minute taxi ride away. When the new airport opens (due Autumn/Winter 2006/7) it wont be as well located. The hotel itself is looking a little 'tired' but the staff are generally extremely friendly, and at the price (I paid about 1150 Baht (less than $20) per night for the 2 of us, inc the substanial breakfast buffet) thro AsiaRooms.com) it's an absolute bargain. There are several restaurants offering different styles of dining plus a well equiped gym and rooftop swimming pool. There is a very comfortable lounge, and also a Karoke bar where the extremely friendly and quite talented pianist will play almost anything for you. We stayed in 1930 this time (July 2006)which is an absolutely huge corner room. Ive stayed here several times before and the rooms have varied quite a lot although none are small. I will definitely come back to the Maxx.
