they pretend to have done the rooms as new last year, but I don't see any change from before.
Furnitures don't look new and bathrooms would deserve a big refreshement !

Menam Riverside is a beautiful hotel with a superb location. They provide free shuttle boat service to the Central Pier, from where you can take a public boat to go and visit the tourist attractions, or take the sky train to go shopping in the city center. This saves you the time you would spend in Bangkok's terrible traffic. The breakfast buffet is very good. The room rate Asia Rooms gets you is almost 1/3 of what you would get if you walked in the hotel yourself. We will stay there if we go to Bangkok again.

For the price you pay a very good hotel with an excellent service and a very nice view over the river. The breakfast is complete. The extra service when you enter the hotel is perfect. You don't have to carry your luggage and they bring it in a short time to your room. There was one minuspoint: in the swimming pool comes no direct sunlight. A recommen-dation: put some parasols on the sunroof

By far, the Menam Riverside hotel's best attribute is its location right on the river. My husband and I used the river shuttle service several times with no problems. The staff were friendly and accomodating. We had asked for a room with a queen bed and a good view, and we got it. The lobby of the hotel and the pool area are quite nice and are a good place to sit and relax for awhile. The lobby had live music both nights we were there. Overall, an excellent hotel for its price.
The rooms were a little run-down and we had put the 'do not disturb' sign on the door during the second day. When we returned to our room, it was made up. When we returned to our room the morning we were checking out, there was an overpowering smell in our room. I think they had just started to paint or some other project in the room above us.

I very much enjoyed the night I spent at the Menam Hotel. In fact I am coming back in January 2006. The only complaint I have is the workers hammering and sawing at 10:30 PM near my room! Other than that and the very strong odor of paint or lacquer thinner when we left in the morning I loved the place.
