I am just back from my Honeymoon in Thailand I stayed at Hau Hin, then onto Bangkok where me and my husband stayed at the Montien, lovely hotel we were upgraded as we were a Honeymoon Couple and we were on the 8th floor were the Business Centre is located, the room was lovely staff are very friendly, would stay there again, and the Bakery in the hotel is out of this world !!! there was not enough sun loungers by the pool thou, but maybe thats because the Germans kept taking them.
Room was clean and spacious and service was good. However it was a little noisy at night with music vibrating through to the room. But The Montiem Hotel was okay!
I have stayed at Montien regularly for more than decade. I am a regular visitor -at least twice a year. I would almost always stay at Montien. The doorman- Ah Tiek- is really fantastic. Another doorman promoted to bell captain - Worached(??) I am not so sure of the spelling- was also very welcoming. They welcome guests practically with open arms. The reception is good- not excellent -but good. The house keeping people is helpful. Good spread for breakfast and serving staff in the dining area is hospitable. The staff have a way of making you feel at home. One time I was there during Songkram. Was not prepared. Was drenched almost everyday. Remembered that the doorman laughed and said "Sir, you cannot get angry" I said I was not -but I had no more dry clothes to wear. The impact of the festival was delivered by this person. I could of course go on and on. The site of the hotel could not be better. I could just look out from my window and see the goingons at Patpong without having to push my way thru the crowd and being bothered by-" Sir, You want..."
Of course the rooms are not fantastically wonderful. A bit rundown perhaps but they are comfortable enough. In spite of this I would get a room there again in my future visits. It is al most like a second home.
Excellent Hotel, stayed here Easter 2003 and New Year 2003/4. Wonderful time, Staff are excellent, specially the guy on the door. Very helpful and polite, Rooms are excellent, food is pretty good too. Very good value for money. Excellent location especially for the night life etc. Love everything about it, we take the kids there too. Returning easter 2005, can't wait

Excellent hotel. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect for entertainment and shopping. The room was large and comfortable. I would recommend the Montien to anyone wanting an exciting time in Bangkok.

Rooms are large and reasonably well-appointed. Only downside is that A/C tends to be noisy. Service is excellent and staff very friendly. Breakfast buffet is good although it can get busy on weekends. Location is convenient to Skytrain and Patpong.
For shopping and location this mid priced hotel is good value. Although fittings are clearly in need of an upgrade staff are friendly and efficient. One drawback though is that the location does encourage those single male travellers to seek company from nearby Patpong and sometimes staff cannot differentiate between company and girlfriends/wives...quite amusing depending on your view
