I booked this hotel (Superior Room) pretty last minute and we got a fantastic price via Asia Rooms (cheaper than the hotel directly). We wanted 5-star luxury and we got it! We used the Airport Bus Express in order to get there (150 Baht. About $5). The location is within walking distance of the Golden Mountain Temple, other temples and the Democracy Monument. We weren't really near cheap facilities like internet cafes. etc, but a Tuk-Tuk or taxi should soon clear that up! The hotel has 3 blocks. We were in block C on the 23rd floor. I requested the top floors and got them. The top floors are much better as the lower floors are pretty cheap and lead to the shopping arcade next door! Breakfast was buffet form and pretty good. The staff are speedy so watch your plates! I found the service very professional and the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The hotel has many restaurants and bars on site which were good but expensive. We went to them anyway. The sushi bar is particularly good! The beer is expensive so go for wine or cocktails instead. There are a few pools in the hotel and there is an independent tour booking office (The Green Wood Travel Co.) on the 14th floor who booked our day trips for us. Staff are Thai and Dutch. The trips were very good and the staff were happy to deal with us even out-of-hours! Everyone was really good except for the female staff in the Karaoke Bar who were attentive to the Asian customers and ignored us. I guess they didn't want our money! All in all. Highly recommended.

We stayed for two nights in a deluxe suite it was clean and spacious. The hotel has two swimming pools and although one was being refurbished the other pool was more than adequate. The service was very good, breakfast plentiful, and the conciege very helpful. Would not hesitate to use again.

I stayed at the Prince Palace hotel...
I stayed at the Prince Palace hotel for 4 nights at the end of August 2007. I normally do not stay in expensive hotels but I booked it via asiarooms.com and it was only 37 euros per night for a single room. Being my first time in Bangkok ann not knowing what to expect I went for it. Location is perfect. It is just in the middle of everything. I like walking so I walked from the hotel to Kao san road (20 minutes) and also to the first station (30 minutes) of the new skytrain (National Stadium) from where you can get on any train and go to the massive shopping district of Bangkok or to the riverside (Shangri-La hotel area just to be more precise). As I said I like walking but if you don't, you just have to pop outside the hotel and many tuk-tuks or metered taxis will take you either to Kao san Road, the skytrain system or the temples for 50-70 baht (1 euro is 45 baht...so just make the math by yourself). Breakfast in the morning is plentiful. I used to have quite a lot (it is a buffet breakfast with asian/european/american options) and sometimes felt so full that I used to have a very late lunch...say 4-5pm. I would strongly recommends it to people with a mid-range budget who do not want to spend a fortune but want to live in a nice place. Rooms are very clean, made up every day, with cable TV and 2 bottles of water are free every day, plus they are very very quiet...something you will need after a day in caotic Bangkok.

The hotel is aged but is well taken care of. The view from the rooms are unbelievable. The mall in the hotel is quite empty and a little over priced. The restraunts in the hotel are very nice but are very expensive. The location is good if you take tuk tuks the hotels taxis are very overpriced.
