Great hotel perfectly situated for sightseeing and shopping. Used variety of transport but found river taxis excellent the stop is outside the hotel. Staff efficient and triendly, hotel enormous and glamerous. Rooms ok comfortable and clean, try and ask for an upgrade, we did and ended up with a suite at next to nothing extra (which was on the top floor with outstanding views). Huge shopping complex below covering 7 floors.

My wife and I spent 4 nights...
My wife and I spent 4 nights at this hotel from 2-6 Aug. We arrived and checked in on the night of 2 Aug. But first, they gave us a standard room with 2 single beds. After argueing with them, they changed us to a room with king size bed in smoking zone. :-( Anyway, the room is big, clean and quiet. It can't be better for budget travellers. We were hungry and went out looking for a restaurant after we left our baggage in the room. We were disappointed coz there is no any restuarant or bar around the hotel. But there are many dirty food stalls over the street. We have no choice and took some noddles at one food stall. My wife had the trots after we back to hotel. :-( The next day, we found the hotel is located in a clothes wholesale market. A fruit wholesale market is around. It's far from city center or places of interest. But you can take taxi-meter or tuh-tuh to any place in the city with around 65B. Be careful of the door boy, he always recommended us taking tuh-tuh with a much higher fare. The breakfast is same every day and very crowded. Hotel provided two bottles of drinking water for free but the bottle is not free. We were charged 60B coz we take the water to Pattaya and though the bottles :-). There is a 7-11 shop near hotel. You can buy water there. Overall, if you don't care about no restaurant, no entainment around the hotel, it's not a bad choice to stay.

I stayed at the Prince Palace with...
I stayed at the Prince Palace with my partner, we have backbacked before but not in Asia and knew hotels were cheap there so decided to stay in hotels rather than hostels. I hope that gives an idea of what we were expecting. The Prince Palace is very bling in the lobby etc and rooms were good sizes, clean, massive beds; We got upgraded to a massive corner room. Granite bathrooms with good shower. A/c fine. Large buffet breakfast, althought mostly asian cuisine. Now on location, we found it to be quite out of the way and not walkable to anywhere, but don't let that put you off as we discovered that bangkok, unlike lots of other capital cities was not only immense, making distances unwalkable, but not a pleasant place to walk around (due to pollution). Taxis are cheap so use them - don't accept one witout a meter. If on a similar budget I would stay again.

It is bit away from the city centre or the shopping areas. But one could use the Klong boats to get to the centre and then make use of the various public transports. To get to wherever one wants to go. For the people interested in purchasing casual wear you can not find a better place since the first six floors of the complex is THE WHOLESALE/RETAIL garment centre for the whole of Bangkok. All in all it is a good place with good B'fast. and good for families.

The communication between staffs is not well. When we checked in during our arrival at 2:30pm, the receptionist has accepted that we can have late checked out. On the day we checked out, the staff at the receptionist desk was disagreed to allowed us checking out late. We are happy with the bell man service at the ground floor but not the receptionist service.

The hotel has a satelite TV. In the night I wanted to watch a movie but the hotel was not able to provide a movie channel after 8 pm. After I complained at the reception they told me it is because of the computer. But I do not believe this.

The Prince Palace is a fine hotel...
The Prince Palace is a fine hotel with poor service. It was also a little too far from "the sights" for tourists wishing to walk. We bookended our stay on the beaches with two nights at the Palace. It is a handsome, centrally located hotel and appeared to provide good value. We then spent two hours attempting to acquire a key from the front desk for our room. Entering the wee hours of the morning, the enormous lobby of the hotel provided a Twilight Zone of haggard guests attempting to find their rooms, obtain room service or to check in and out against all odds. As I tried to stow a bag in the left-luggage area, an enterprising staff member tried to sell us a "bargain" 750 baht cab ride to the airport. We returned two weeks later on our way out of Thailand and had a completely different experience. This time, we were courteously received, checked in right away, and had a great night. However, there always seems to be someone arguing at the Prince Palace desk, and with many other options in the area, we would likely not stay again.

We stayed at the Prince Palace for...
We stayed at the Prince Palace for 2 nights in early December on our honeymoon. The room was very large & spacious with large windows and nice views of the city. I must say it could do with more/brighter lights in the room however as we found the room to be quite dim in the evenings despite having every light on. The rooms could also be updated somewhat - there were some paint peeling off the walls however overall it was not a bad place to stay in. The bathroom was a good size with a bathtub. The other thing is there was no ironing facility & when we tried to communicate our need for this, they didn't seem to understand us. Breakfast is your usual buffet which was quite filling with a lot of variety. In the evening we tried to find a local eatery but unfortunately the Prince Palace doesn't seem to have any restaurants within walking distance, so we ended up eating at some street noodle vendor. Make sure you visit the Bo Bae Towers next door for some really good cheap stuff at wholesale prices. I bought a few tops there for only 50B which they were selling on the streets from anywhere 350B upwards! The other thing to do is to remember to take a card from the hotel with directions to the hotel as we had a few difficulties with non-English speaking tuk tuks or taxi drivers finding our way back home! Overall we enjoyed our stay at The Prince Palace, and my general impression is that it has potential to be even better if they could upgrade the rooms, but I guess the price would have to rise accordingly.
