As a first visit to a country of which I don't speak the language nor knew anyone, I must say that this was beyond any of my expectations !! The people were very helpfull and friendly and I never felt alone or in trouble. I really would recommand this hotel, it's entire accomodation and surroundings to anyone. Folks, keep up the good work !! :-) I'll be back in Thailand, that's for sure!

We stayed 3 days there. Overall, it's a well maintained hotel, facing the Chao Praya river; nice rooms; good buffet breakfast; nice lobby coffeeshop and bar; friendly staff. Minor disadvantages: 1.Location: the hotel is located far away from tourist centres of Bangkok; you will always need a taxi to get anywhere outside of the hotel 2.The gym: Their gym is tiny, no A/C and equipment is totally obsolete.

This hotel had everything needed for a restful break in Bangkok at reasonable prices.  The rooms are a good size and very comfortable and well insulated from outside noise.  Our room had a great  view over the river below and all the river traffic.  The restaurant has good food in nice surroundings at reasonable prices. The hotel is about 5 minutes walk to the local ferry which is very convenient and cheap transport to the major tourist attractions (watch out for touts who claim that the Royal Palace is closed for special ceremonies).  The hotel provides a free boat to the shopping centres.   Staff were always helpful.

We enjoyed our stay here, and found the rooms clean and spacious, and the staff friendly. Its location is slightly out of the centre of things, but benefits from being right on the river, enabling you to make use of the river taxis - far more enjoyable than the car variety. The restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices and the drinks are not expensive. I would certainly recommend this hotel to family and friends.

I am a Canaduan but I read...
I am a Canaduan but I read the Royal River website whilst in Hong Kong. The hotel is located beautifully at the water front. The standard room I stayed is clean and nice. The swimming pool is nice and clean though rather small.. staff are friendly and helpful to settle little problem at check-in-form fillings. If not because of the following defects, I do not hesitate to give the ratings to 10/10. (1) the hotel exchange rate is almost 20% difference to change HKD to Bhat. I should be happy if the rates coul come down to 10% difference to compare with the banks'.. (2)  A friend came to join me for breakfast. The restaurant staff  requested for cash. I paid her cash but returning no receipt. As we could not use credit card nor charge meals to our room account, we had to take our dinners at restaurants outside. We missed the fun eating whilst enjoying the river at sunset.. . Anyway, this is a comfortable hotel. I would like to come and stay here again. I hope they can offer the convenience to use credit cards or charge the meals into room accounts next time

We stayed at the Royal River hotel...
We stayed at the Royal River hotel for 1 night in March 04, we had booked for 3 nights but I couldn't bear staying there any longer. We had booked a river view n/smoking room. We were placed into a rather dated large room that reaked of smoke. The bed was horrible and not very clean actually the whole room wasn't very clean, the bathroom was outdated the toilet seat was broken and the shower didn't work properly. The hotel was out of the way. I booked this hotel on the reviews I had read on this site, what we got was the complete opposite. I'm not one for complaining so we just checked out after the first night and found a nice hotel in Siam Square to stay at instead.

This was my 2nd stay at Royal River. The first was a River View room that was much better then this time(standard room). Requested a Queen/King bed received two twins. Fortunately wife and I were only there one day. She greatly enjoyed the breakfast buffet due to many choises (reason for 8 raiting, 7 if not good food). Personnel were OK, but late checkin crew could be better. Will use again but will get River View next time.

I have stayed in this hotel six...
I have stayed in this hotel six times now. On each occasion the staff have been friendly and welcoming (they even remember me now, and treat me as an old friend:-). The room I was allocated for the standard rate on my latest visit, was excellent (the best so far), with a balcony and king size bed. Breakfast is great, and has improved on each visit, as it is included in the standard price, offering an ‘all you can eat’ buffet (French toast/pancakes, bacon, etc…) with a chef on standby to knock up a omelette, or anything else egg related:-) In addition, there is also a good selection of cakes available, for those with a sweet tooth. As well as the shuttle boat, there is also a free bus which takes you into Central for shopping etc… In my experience, hotels in general are more expensive for meals/alcohol. The nearby Riverbar is also dear, and not my personal choice for dinner. I preferred to eat out for lunch/in the evening, in order to sample cheap authentic Thai cuisine with the locals, eating in food halls on shopping plaza’s such as Pantip/Pratoonam (a fair taxi ride away, but well worth it for the bargain computer related items, DVD’s, clothes, etc..), and some stalls by the roadside (you have to be careful, but just go where the locals go;-). Pata is very close (5-10 minute taxi ride) also offering some great places to eat, and even provides a McDonalds for those that miss home a little too much/want to strangle someone after consuming noodle number 1499!!;-) There is also the fairly new addition of a Jacuzzi, next to the refurbished swimming pool area, and my girlfriend and I spent some quality time in that;-) I would not hesitate in recommending the Royal River hotel, as it is excellent value, which is backed up by great service.

Hotel was nice, with clean rooms and nice views of the River. Location was not a problem and we managed to find a metered taxi right outside on the road (a 2-3 minute walk). Pool was nice and room service was prompt. Did have problem with lock on room door but was fixed quickly. Staff were happy to help and tour desk in reception was excellent. Would comment that if arriving there in evening, there are limited places to go to eat outside the hotel.
