I stayed at this hotel for 2 months. It is a 90 second walk to the skytrain (Saphan Taksin) and to the boats on the river (central pier), which makes the location as "central" as you can get (corner of Sathorn Tai and Thanon Charoen Krung, "New Road"). Sala Daeng (the patpong, Silom, Lumpini Park) is a 5 minute ride on the skytrain. The room was large w/AC, bathroom was fine w/plenty of towels, TV was ok w/BBC, friendly, efficient staff, minibar w/beers for 30b, and a small balcony...I paid 5000b/week (weekly rates available). Bottom line: you will not stay anywhere in Bangkok this nice in this kind of location for this cheap. Repeat: this place is a deal. Do it.
p.s. there's a great thai restaurant (neighborhood place) several doors east on sathorn tai. The ownners are named Kia (guy) and Dun (lady), food is awesome and the most expensive thing on the menu is 80b, except tom yum.
