We arrived at the Shangri-La Hotel in...
We arrived at the Shangri-La Hotel in March 2005 with our two daughters and found it to be a superb experience. We were upgraded (2 or 3 times I think) from the main wing to a fantastic suite in the Krungthep Wing. The staff even apologised for the inconveinience of having to move us!! Everything about the hotel, the staff, and the service were nothing short of excellent. We recommend the buffet cruise up the river in the evening especially if you're a bit pushed for time as we were - see a few sites and have a lovely meal as well.

If you have to stay in Bangkok...
If you have to stay in Bangkok then there are really only three hotels to choose from: The Peninsular, The Oriental & The Shrangri La. I have not stayed in The Oriental but I perfer The Shangri La Hotel to the Peninsular. The normal Shangri La wing is too commercial and loud for my liking therefore you really must stay in the Krungthep Wing which is much more civilised and not a great deal more expensive. The gym is excellent and the on site restaurants are very acceptable if a little expensive. Overall, I liked this hotel, it is well situated and very pleasant. Would I stay again...Yes, I think I would! Recomended.
Having just spent 5 weeks in Asia...
Having just spent 5 weeks in Asia & Australia with my wife and 2 teenage daughters I would just like to tell you that the Shangri La at Bangkok came out as by far the best hotel we experienced in terms of comfort, cuisine and value for money. We will definitely be back!

We stayed in the Executive river view. Two things impressed me most about this hotel, the fantastic view of the river and the impressive shower unit in the room. Another highlight was drinking cocktails in Angelini's bar whilst listening to a live Jazz band and snacking on the complimentary olives & cashews.

We stayed here for 2 nights for our Honeymooners, the hotel upgraded us to the Superior Room River View. The room was superb and the bed was very comfortable like a heaven. We had a Hotel s’ Dinner Cruise, it was so fantastic and memorable. The hotel staffs were very professional and friendly. The Pool was great like the peaceful oasis. The hotel location was very excellent, located along the Choapaya River and 5 minutes walking to the Sky train Station. We love every minute in the hotel… well worth.
