Many disapointments
I stayed with my daughter at the Cha Da Hotel in Bangkok. I am glad we had only booked for a few days. The hotel had supposedly undergone a modern makeover however it seemed quite run down. The pool area with the fake grass was tacky and the room was average at best. The toilet overflowed one night and one day, when I was sitting in the lobby, some black dust crumbs fell from the aircon unit on to my arm and shoulder.
The staff were in general, not very helpful. The worst thing about this hotel was the extra charges for everything. Internet is extra 200 baht a day (not available on the first night and the manager was reluctant to tell me this straight), lost room key? - 200 baht. The bed sheet had blood stains on it one day (sheets are changed daily) . The worst was the money grab the hotel staff did on my exit. I was changing hotel and they said they would "order a larger taxi for me for my two large suitcases". The hotel staff asked me to pay 700baht upfront for the taxi rather than pay the taxi by the meter. He also lied and said "my other hotel was very far, an hour away" when it turned out to be less than 30min away. The 700 baht money grab was a rip off and I can tell the hotel and the taxi company were in cohort with each other. I also wonder if they would have ripped me off if I was a solo man travelling, rather than a mother with child. The rip off really earned this hotel the negative review. Hotel staff should assist guests not grab every petty money grab opportunity. If I had organised a large taxi myself and gone by the meter it would have been no more than 200 baht. (A note to travellers. The taxis by the meter are the best and a fixed fee upfront is wrong and in most cases 3 times the price.)
The only redeeming factor of this hotel was the buffet breakfast everyday - the food was good and had good hot and cold variety as well of Western and Asian food.
My second hotel was only a little bit more ($10 more per night) and so much better.

I booked Bangkok Chada through Asia Rooms. They could not verify that payment has been made prior to my arrival. The front office staff were unfriendly. Upon arrival, they asked for my credit card and I told them that payment has been made via Asia Rooms using my credit card. They nod in agreement when I showed them the print out. However upon check out, they issued me a receipt and ask me to make payment. I got so pissed and have to tell theem again that I already made a payment. The front office staff did not even apologize. Very unfriendly.

Good Location, not far from MRT and shopping mall and kind hotel steff. But rack of room facility like safty box, slipper, tea bag etc. And even after the remodeling, the condition of the bathroom was under my standard... but not bad for short staying.

I stayed only 1 night. The BF was below standard. The TV had Fox news my fav news channel. The old male staff at the entrance to the temp room for BF had the sourest and most unfriendly face in the whole of BKK. I actually smiled at him and said hello but he looked back straight thru me. I think if he had smiled back at me, I sure kena lottery! Room-service massage was good though!

Overall excellent location to eateries and MRT....
Overall excellent location to eateries and MRT. Also very accesible to night entertainment. Only complaints are the faulty door that is so hard to lock and the leaking toilet bowl. Asked to fix them but was never done. A big minus for total IGNORNACE from the staff. Avoid shower druing peak hourse as hot water is quite scarce at these times (mornings and evenings). Tons of good and cheap local food around the hotel. Will come back to stay if cannot find any better valued hotels around the area.
