I would recomend the hotel for friendly...
I would recomend the hotel for friendly staff, great breakfast buffet and nice swimming pool. The room was large with a very comfortable bed. Good place if you stay for one day and wait for a flight. BTW the airport is more than 15 min, even if there is no traffic. But if you want to feel real Thailand search for a different place...

The staff were very helpful and friendly...
The staff were very helpful and friendly and while the hotel is beginning to show some minor signs of age the rooms are well maintained and the various facilities are first class

Hotel is reasonably close to Don Muang...
Hotel is reasonably close to Don Muang airport (soon to be superseded by the new international airport). Hotel rooms have excellent views. Nice, large room with a superbly comfortable bed. Good choice of restaurants on the lower levels.

Having stayed at a number of hotels...
Having stayed at a number of hotels in BKK we thought we would give this place a go primarily for its close proximity to the JJ markets. We were a little disapointed by the lack of attention of the staff particularly by the doormen who were hardly ever there. On one occasion the doorman was about to open a taxi dooor for us when a mercedes pulled up outside. He quickly left us to attend to someone he thought was wealthier. The location is not great but handy to the mall adjacent for shopping. You won't see us there again!

The Sofitel had been promoted as being...
The Sofitel had been promoted as being five minutes from the airport. It was at least 15 minutes by highway. We had booked the rooms for bing near the airport. Other than that it was perfectly adequate. We had planned to stay there just to overnight on the way to Chiang Mai and not planned on a significant cab ride.

The customer service at the reception is...
The customer service at the reception is not very receptive or accomodating and the medical center is not knowledgeable. Please don't get sick at this hotel.
