Truely 5 star in every possible way, Central location, just a short tuk tuk drive from main attractions, sleeping buddha, the river etc..Very good value through asiarooms.com, we stayed 2 nights at the beginning of April.
However, the Hotel IS expensive in every other way, eating and drinking from the mini-bar will cost a fortune as does use of the internet and drinks at V9 on the top floor are extortinately priced in comparsion to a regular bar in Bangkok. Laundry is expensive too. Overall, a class experience.

We stayed at this hotel in Dec.03 for three nights.
It was wonderful there. Mostly we enjoyed the friendliness of the whole staff.
Also the peaceful and calm athmosphere in Bangkok.
The view from the bar, the drinks and the `trees` will become unforgettable!

My wife Mary and I recently stayed at the hotel for five nights, we had a wonderful, wonderful time there. We loved our room with the great view on the 32nd floor, had drinks at Silom 188 and dined at three of the four restaurants and loved them all, and both of us had a most pleasant and relaxing experience at the beautiful spa. Most of all, we loved the friendly and cheerful staff of the hotel, especially our 'friends' at the breakfast room on the 27th floor who made our morning coffee and croissants very very lovely. Thank you.

We've been in the monarch lee in 1998 for some nights before we took off to SeamRiep and further.
Well the main things we want for a hotel in Bangkok are: good aircon, nice bathroom and a various choice for breakfast. They have it all in luxucury for a nice price. We had a wonderfull time, very good breakfast, good service for getting trips to the airport and elswhere. Good starting and comebackpoint for the damping heat outside. So when we were in Vientiane we booked this hotel again for the last days before going back to Europe. That costs us a lot more however. So book via your travelagent or the Net in stead of direct to the hotel. In 1998 we did both: the difference was about 40%.
