I have stayed at City Lodge on several occasions over the last several years. Good location for street shopping. Quiet = I can sleep. Free medium duty internet = no stock trading. Staff can speak a minimum of English and Thai + good service.
Decent hotel for me as I am not a picky person. Mostly clean, no Restaurant, pastries and coffee in morning. Very nice reception person and door man, spoke English. After checking out at noon they let me keep my bags there without charge for several hours while I waited on my early morning flight home.
For short staying this hotel is an excellent choice. Vey close to BTS Nana station with free WIFI that works fine. Breakfast at the adjacent restaurant is good with a good service. They served me at 06.30 a.m. without problems.
This was my second visit to City Lodge and I wanted to stay in the hotel opposite Robinson noy directly on the main road, Being 75 years old it was not a pleasant experience being placed on the fourth floor when the lift is out of service. My room was right next to MTR station....just imagine how quiet and peacefu it was. American breakfast was lousily cooked and obviously pre-prepared and heated up. Potatoes and croissant were unedible and left on the plate. Summing all up as we say in my language "Tal qamel" understand if you can!!! In pure English I will never stay there again......
Well I think that we cannot find more covenient place in the area, with great staff, best rate, Train station just in front. making all BKK accessible, all Sukhumvit action , shop and streets vendors ... the place to be!
Room was large and reasonably well fitted out for a budget hotel. Hot water was not on at arrival, but was quickly restored on notification. But 3rd floor room was near a very busy street (even late at night/early morning) so noise was an issue - light sleepers need not apply! Included breakfast was basic toast and jam with fruit juice, but the coffee was nice.
I checked in for 4 nights. Location good for BTS train station. The room stink of cig. smoke. I asked for a move to non smoking room, they said all the rooms the same. I even asked for the room to be sprayed. No response. So if you dont mind staying in a smoking room ,this hotel is ok. Dont stay if you dont smoke....
