We stayed in this hotel for 2...

We stayed in this hotel for 2 seperate times. We had not a good stay in the hotel. The service is not good, the people at the reception are not nice and helpfull. The rooms are normal but from good size. The room on de 2nd floor was not good, there were little bugs everywhere. On the 1st floor the room was good, the bathroom was also better. The receptionist made a mistake, because she said to our travelagent that we didn't stay in the hotel, but whe checked in that same morning. But the wouldn't admitt they made a mistake and there was no appologize. What i'm trying to say is that the service was not good. The restaurant is medium. Not bad, not good food. A little bit boring. The location of the hotel is terrible. We looked for 3 days to find a nice area with restaurants. The hotel is located at the most busy road there is, whit nothing in de area, only the grand palace. Breakfast was good, a lot of food, most of the time the food was hot, much choice and breakfast was from 5.30 to 9.30. It was nice that they where open so early but if you wanted to sleep out for 1 day you couldnt, because the closed at 9.30. I don't think that i stay in this hotel again.

Very good value for money. Excellent location...

Very good value for money. Excellent location near Grand Palace, museums, river and Khao San Rd. Good for tourists wanting to explore the centre of Bangkok on foot. Renovated rooms are fine, quite comfortable, bathroom OK. Good breakfast buffet. Drinking water provided in rooms. Quite nice pool and sunbathing area which is a bonus. Have stayed here 3 times. The rooms vary but all have been perfectly adequate and good value. Staff also quite helpful.

I dont like the way how they...

I dont like the way how they treat us when we arrived. No smile, no friendly and only so questions. I can find best vakue and more friendly place in bangkok for the same value. The breakfast offer many choice, but all in poor quality food and without taste. Better to do less but really better !

This was my first stay in Bkk...

This was my first stay in Bkk at a low cost Hotel. Shortly summed up, this Hotel is good value for money! Perfect location for whatever you want to do in Bkk and clean rooms, a little small, but quit all right. No noise from closely located rooms when I stayed there in the low season. On the contrary very quit. The bathtub in the bathroom is a little difficult to use due to lack of warm water, but the shower was indeed very good. Safety boxes free for use in the reception. But be aware of that the Hotel charge deposit for keys, both for your room THB 1 000 and safety box THB 200. Satisfied customer.

I first stayed at this hotel four...

I first stayed at this hotel four years ago and have been back many times since. It is in a great location for sightseeing and close to Khao San Road which has many bars and places too eat. The rooms are good and the staff are friendly. I would recommend this hotel too anyone needing a budget hotel in Bangkok.

This was my 5th stay at the...

This was my 5th stay at the Royal. It is well located for getting to some of the best attractions in Bangkok including the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and the river without having to take a taxi or tuk tuk. The staff is friendly and helpful. The free breakfast buffet gives you a choice between Thai and continental food -- go with the Thai.

It is and feel like a hotel,...

It is and feel like a hotel, with a reception and a large lobby. It is rather cheap, even affordable by backpackers. It has a pool, clean rooms with some character and decent bathrooms. It is walking distance from Kao Sarn Road, giving access to the huge array of shopping, restaurants, internet cafes etc. It is walking distance from the boat pier, the most refreshing way to travel in Bangkok, it is walking distance from the Royal Palace. It is NOT anywhere near the new part of town, so a trip to Patpong or to the mega department stores is a 30 min taxi ride. It is not anywhere near the Skytrain, either. Service is not great, staff at reception were quite unfriendly. Breakfast is served in a gloomy room, by young inexperienced staff. Internet, taxis booked within the hotel and the coffee shop are quite expensive. All in all it's good value, and I keep going there.

Location was perfect as we wanted to...

Location was perfect as we wanted to be near to The Grand Palace and Reclining Buddha, but the hotel was we felt rather past its best, "faded glory." There seemed to be building work going on on one side of the hotel, so perhaps there is a renovation programme in place. Generally it was fine for three days but I would not have wanted to stay any longer.
