Tidy, Cheerful, Compact, Convenient
The Swiss Lodge's location certainly got my attention, so near the Sky Train, subway, shopping, and the good restaurants on Convent such as Bua, a personal favorite. Things in the Swiss Lodge are compact but well thought-out, a small, tidy lobby, a smallish, stylish pool, Standard rooms are not large but are cheerful, with nice baths and case goods (furniture, in hotel-speak) of a decent quality. We are in the digital age, but the Swiss Loge is lagging a bit. The range of TV channels was small for a hotel of this class, and, as an almost risible anachronism, they asked 450 baht a day for WiFi. Is it still 1995 at the Swiss Lodge? Hotels half the price in this area have had free WiFi for years. Well, the complimentary breakfast was tasty and the staff well-trained and helpful. The building and furnishings show quality, and the convenience of the location will make you feel smug every time you have to leave the hotel to do something.
