Tai Pan is currently reasonably priced. It's clean, quiet and efficiently managed. I've always found the entire staff both courteous and friendly.
I use Tai Pan on short stop-overs between UK and China but recently had a longer than expected stay awaiting a visa for India. I found Tai Pan can be equally suitable for extended stays, enforced or otherwise.
Unlike many hotels the Tai Pan appears to have a rolling programme of room refurbishment carried out largely unnoticed by guests. With Tai Pan I'm confident of trouble free, fresh and comfortable accommodation.
The Tai Pan kitchen lives up to the same high standards.
Staff were helpful, and not overly nosey. Breafast was good. Location is good as well, down the end of Sukh. road, near Cowboy. Rooms were a little worn, but nothing major. Only complaint was that rooms mostly had twin beds rather than king size single. Also got put into a smoking room instead of non-smoking.
Otherwise OK, and would stay here again.
next to the hotel on the poolside is a very noisy construction going on, which will be there at least until the end of the year.
And it is, all in all, a noisy place. If somebody close one of this wooden doors in the 3. floor, this "bam" can be heart in the whole building. Lobby and Restaurant are very dark and the breakfast buffet is quiet poor...
Nice basic hotel. Construction next door but stops for the night. Short walk to Soi Cowboy if thats your thing. A roach ot two every night in the bathroom mostly but guess that comes with the territory.

I was in Hotel Tai Pan for 3 nights i.e. 7th, 8th and 9th Dec 05. Nice gesture @ the lobby by the staff.
(1) However, it looks like the rooms are poorly maintained. A very bad smell used to haunt every time the occupant gets into the room. Found that, the bath room items are not replaced, even if they were not available in the room.
(2) Location is deep inside the main road. Very tiresome to reach the MRT / SkyTrain.
(3) Internet speed @ hotel is dead slow. Nothing will workout in 10MBps speed. Need to provide broadband facility.
(4) Breakfast was good
