Really nice place to stay. From the outside it is a bit overshadowed - literally and architecturally - by the Banyan Tree next door but everything inside is stylish, well put together and works well. The staff are friendly and helpful without fawning. The food at C'yan is brilliant although if you are a vegetarian there is less choice.

Great Hotel. An ocean of calm in Bangkok. No real drawback. Food was great, Staff very helpful as you would expect in a five star hotel I guess. But the calm relaxed nature of the hotel and its pool were great. Bit expensive for drinks but apart from that great place to stay. After teh hot streets of Bangkok returning was like arraiving at an oasis.
If you are a budget traveller keep clear. You do pay a high premium for the ambiance. But is a much nicer stay that the guesthouses. Like watching Apocalypse Now instead of Eastenders.

I was immensely impressed by the hotel, its staff - everything about it. I knew to expect something nice from my past experience but Metropolitan exceeded all of that.
I was unfortunate enough to lose my mobile phone and even in that hassle, the reception personnel participated whole-heartedly. My warmest thanks to everyone for making my stay so wonderful!

Can't fault the facilities and the service, but the decor is so cool and minimalist that it becomes clinical... and somewhat pretentious. Cyan is a fantastic (if expensive) restaurant - the tamarind souffle is amazing and the breakfasts (included in the room price) are the best I've had anywhere. The location could be better - it is bang in the middle of the business district, which means any type of local colour is a longish taxi ride away.

An excellent hotel for those who want...
An excellent hotel for those who want a more personable service with modern contermpory surroundings. The Metropolitan staff were all very helpful. Its a great place if you want to avoid the typical tourist. Food at the restaurants is great and the staff are quite accomadating. Looking forward to my next trip to Bangkok.

a modern hotel experience in high style... a la Schrager, but with competent caring staff (and without the attitude and hustle). nice details. good linens. metro room is big, full media, huge bath with view. quiet. good location near metro and skytrain. nice spa. restaurants are great, both the healthy one on floor 2 (a welcome change) and c'yan by the pool, excellent dinner there and breakfast - the passionfruit waffles are SO good. Extremely courteous staff, both friendly and professional, but not as overly formal as in some 5* bangkok hotels, this is the cool people's hotel after all. note that the odd numbered rooms seem to have the better view of the city.
