Firstly, when we arrived at this hotel...
Firstly, when we arrived at this hotel on 22nd July 2010 the first impressions were reasonably good. The concierge brought in our suitcases and we were allocated our room with no fuss. However, upon entering our room we were shocked. The room was run down and nowhere near to the standard of the one advertised. The decor and quilt covers etc were well used and looked nothing like the one advertised. This was brought to the hotel staff's attention who stated, "oh - they are old photographs" and implied those photos should no longer be up on the website. I feel the reason they do this is for more custom and in a way it is false advertising.
Nevertheless, the hotel staff convinced us to stay and not look elsewhere using their wireless internet as a unique selling point! The bathroom cleanliness was in question. There were small wirey hairs on the bathroom floor and had clearly not been cleaned properly before we arrived.
There have been comments in regards to hotel staff not being very friendly. My wife and I spoke to a couple of the staff who work 15 and 16 hour shifts which is why they may appear not very friendly. To change that we brought them snacks in which they appreciated!
The breakfasts are average, edible and fill a small hole! The food is often cold though by about 8:30am.
The hotel is located in the Arab part of Bangkok. Lots of kebabs, tailors, bong smoking bars etc (you get the picture!). It's about a 15 minute walk to the sky train which is good and about a 15 minute walk to the British Embassy (reason we stayed here).
If we needed to visit the Embassy again in Bangkok we may use this hotel again, we may not. Can't complain too much I suppose for the price of 1250 Baht a night including breakfast!
