Viengtai was a nice hotel in the middle of the Ko San Road area. We were not impressed by Ko San Road, or all of the backpackers chaos--thus we weren't too keen on Vientai's location. That being said, it is the nicest hotel in the area (Ko San Road). It has a very nice breakfast buffet, safety deposit services, an attached travel agency, beauty parlor, and tailor service. It is on the road directly parallel to Ko San Road, so it is relatively quiet at night (which is good!). The hotel resides in an area frequented by backpackers, young tourists, and single men interested in Thai women. Was not a fan of the area or of the tourists visiting it. The hotel was a 10 minute walk away from the a pier where you can catcha ferry taxi to the famous temples and the Grand Palace. Other than that, the hotel is far from all other Bangkok attractions (shopping, theatre, good eats). These other attractions are in the Sukhumvit and Siam areas. Most taxi drivers in downtown Bangkok groaned at the idea of driving all the way out to Viengtai because of the distance and often charged us extra. In terms of the room itself, it was fairly large. The bathroom ceiling was extremely short and my roomate had a difficult time using the shower because it required them to bow their head down in order to use it. Overall, nice hotel in a not so nice area.
