Prior to this trip in April, I went on Dec’06 staying in First House Hotel. For Sawasdee, I stayed in a Deluxe room, and stayed in a Superior room in First House (prices are relatively same).
Comparing these 2 rooms:
Sawasdee
Location, 5mins walk to BTS but away from shopping centres
Allow check out as late as 4pm for extra 200baht
Very friendly and helpful staff
Fixed breakfast set, bread + bacon + fried eggs + jam and butter + coffee / tea
Room size, quite disappointing and relatively small, non-carpeted.
Bathroom, very spacious but no bathtub, dim lighting, low water pressure
First House
Location, on Pratunam Market, superb location for shoppers but at least 15mins away from BTS
Late check out normally not allow
Not as friendly but still not too bad
Buffet style breakfast
Room size, more than what you pay for, ample space for passage and stuffs, carpeted
Bathroom, quite cramp but with bathtub, bright lighting
In conclusion, I will rather choose to stay in First House Hotel for what I pay for.
