i went for my check up at the Bumrungrad Hospital which is directly accross the hotel. If I visit the hospital again I will stay at the same hotel

We have seen a lot of hotels in Bangkok, and I must say this is easily the "best in class" in the $70 range. We have stayed in this hotel on 2 occasions, and would gladly come back here again.
The rooms in Unico Grande Sukhumvit 1 rival those in any 5 star hotel. The rooms are HUGE (really huge), and superbly maintained. The rooms we stayed in had a 29" LCD TV, a DVD player and a music system (something I havent seen in 5 star hotels). There was also a big fridge, an ironing board, microwave, electric kettle, plates, spoons, bowls and a litchen sink. This is entirely unique to Unico Grande. The beds were comfy and the linen extremely clean. There were bath robes, etc, which one usually doesnt expect in a $70 hotel.
Yes, the other reviews are correct, the hot water in the shower seems to have a mind of its own, but its really a minor issue when considering everything else thats great about this hotel.
I must say, Unico Grande is one of the best kept secrets in Bangkok.

Great hotel, very friendly and helpful service staff. The room is spacious and clean but only with the same problem as others have mention, the adjustment of hot water. Free internet access is available in rooms and there are two common computer with internet access at the lobby. Breakfast is nice but you will get bored if you plan to stay long.
The hotel is about 5 to 10mins walk to BTS, infact it is much nearer than what I expect. I didn't took the BTS but opt for taxi as it's rather cheap, only the traffic that is somewhat annoying. It cost less than 100THB to the shopping area if it's on meter.
Overall, I find this a great hotel, peaceful and a home feel. Will recommend it!

This hotel suited us because it was very handy to the Skytrain. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. A good place to stay.
Someone has complained about the shower temperature...
Someone has complained about the shower temperature control before I made my booking with this hotel. It's the same problem when my wife and I spent 3 nights in this hotel in March 2008. Hope they will rectify it. Location is good, it's about 7 minutes walk to the Sky train.

On the whole, the experience at Unico Grande Sukhomvit was quite pleasant. The service staff were friendly and the rooms are reasonably clean.
Breakfast was not much to speak of though. There is a lack of variety for breakfast and there were minimal changes to the menu for the 4 days that I was there.
In terms of location, the hotel is a 7 - 8 minutes walk to the BTS station, Ploen Chit. As the hotel is located in one of the sois, it is quite a walk, including a couple of streets to cross to get to the BTS station.

I dont normally write reviews, but I feel that this hotel deserves a good recommendation. The location is perfect, right next to the skytrain. The service was impecable and the room was very clean. The price was also very cheap for the received accomdation. Definetly where I'm planning on staying next time.

Generally the hotel has quite a not too bad service. However, there was a problem with the hotel's selection of tour agency. The tour agency in the hotel was out to rip off. Unclear information given, tour package price does not even include like shows, boat rides and etc. The hotel made no effort to resolve the problem. Better selection of tour agency in the hotel could be done so.

Excellent new hotel, location is very closed to Bumrungrad Hospital that I'm check up during my stay. When I stay the Hotel under refurbished so some construction appear during day time noise and dust may disturb you in public area but in bedroom very nice and clean. Large size Flat screen, good quality of bed, coffee tea maker facilities, DVD and Compo player and Microwave. Bathroom is too small but also have tub,that's good. Price is valuable and I will be back again.
