Diamond City's roomms are reasonably big and...
Diamond City's roomms are reasonably big and clean. However, the shower heads are not functoning well and cnnot have a good bath. In one of our rooms the toilet has shower curtains instead of shower screen, the toilet get wet all over after a shower.
The service of the hotel staff is good. I specially like the 24hrs coffee and tea service available at the reception area, it is cosy and with televison to watch while having a sip.
I would certainly come back again to this hotel if the rates are still the same.

Looking for a budget hotel for my 4 nights shopping holiday in Bangkok, I found the Diamond City exceeding my expectations in terms of service from staffs, facilities and room size. The three of us stayed in the superior room with lots of space by only adding 2 USD per night. Save the money from hotel price and use it for taxi/tuk2 and extra baggage home.

I stayed 4 nights 2-6 Dec07. The location is not too bad. It's not really that far to walk to the BTS station at Asia Hotel or even to MBK. Also, the walk would be interesting for those who may like to see daily life in the sois at all hours. The hotel is okay at the price. My room on the 4th floor could have done with a sprucing up and the carpet changed. It was badly stained. The front desk and the housekeeping staff are friendly. They do impose a 10% service charge for food though, although this is not stated on the menu. Hot and cold drinks are available free at all times in the coffeehouse. You have to place B500 deposit for the room cardkey and B1000 for the in-room safe key (if needed), refundable upon checked-out. Do make sure that the taxi driver will use the meter before you board the taxi when hailing one from the soi.

Hotel is about 10-15mins from nearest BTS. But it is not very safe a for single woman traveller to walk at night. 7-11 is quite nearby, about 5mins walk. TV channels are quite limited, beside standard Thai channels, there are only Jap, English news channels, but all on business news. And I think there is only one sports channel, though it doesn't show sports programm all day.
Can be quite noisy, depending on which room you stay. As we are able to hear kids and adults (from other rooms) talking and shouting at the corridor. No safety lock in the room, as guest has to pay 1000baht for the key.
Staff are quite helpful and accomdating. I changed rooms 3 times. First, because the bathroom heater wasn't working and it almost flooded after I bath. The 2nd room was better (at least there's a window and a bathtub :) But as the 2nd room wasn't near the wireless connection point, which caused the internet to get cut off quite frequently, so we requested a room nearer to the wireless router.
Something to note, during the room changing from 1st - 2nd room, the staff gave us the key and we recee the room. However, the guest(s) in the room hasn't checked out yet!! If we are crooks, we would have taken their stuff. After we mentioned this to that same staff, he than realised the guest(s) has not checked out yet. Not sure if security is always that lax there, or is this just an isolated case.
Would most likely chose this hotel again, mainly because of the free wireless service, which allows me to surf the net in my room with privacy.

I like the hotel interior, its bring u back to the oldies of bangkok. :)
The 24 hours free coffee and tea bar make me really comfortable. :)
Overall is an value for money with bellow THB1000 per night.
